They did take some timeouts away but when you are in a quarter like that, call time out, get a T, pull the fire alarm.....something.
Totally agree. Who cares at that point. Shut em down anyway you can! Get in your players faces and make them know they can play the game the right way. You turn that quarter around and make the Raptors have to call a few Time Outs!

I don't think anyone in here who wants Stotts out has a viable choice for his replacement.

I'll wait....
If something does happen and Stotts goes i would encourage the Blazers to look at Ettore Messina
Euro league Champion 4 times and currently working for the Spurs. My feeling is he is championship caliber and will go somewhere. Also he brings euro greats to Portland without question. Because of small market issues and the fact American free agents don't really want to come this way it could be a great hire.

Yeah... Lebron n'em tried that too.

They tried David Blatt... And he was fired mid 2nd season.
Blatt took them to the Finals. Just sayin. Actually he was fired in his third year and many still think it was a huge mistake.

Yeah... Lebron n'em tried that too.

It could be, that Blatt was bit different situation. It's Bron's team. We all know what happened there;)

I'm not some Ettore's fan, but working with Pop could do no harm to him too.

Like i said. I was pretty sure he wasn't trying to compare Cleveland or Miami to Portland. Those teams had LeBron. Plain and simple.

This isn’t high school or college. Coaches don’t get in players faces to light a fire unless your name is Greg popovich. It just doesn’t happen. Stotts may not be elite but last night was on the players. If your players show up and lay an egg like that how is that on the coaches?

This is just not true.

You fixed nothing. Your original statement was that they tried that. The Blazers have tried nothing like that. comparing it to Blatt and having LeBron seems like you simply don't understand the answer to your question. You asked for other options or who people might consider a replacement for Stotts in PORTLAND. I gave you a name and a couple reasons why i believe he will be a good head coach and would fit in Portland.

Whatever. I'm right in saying that an international coach was tried for the first time and it failed. LeBron or not.

Now you are just fooling yourself. Professional is more likely to demand performance than College or High School.

He/they do expect performance but “calling timeouts and getting in their grill” ain’t doing it. Those are my words not anyone else’s but that what people are insinuating

FAILED?????
.675 winning percentage and .700 in the playoffs FAILED?
REALLY?
Like to know your idea of success?

But calling timeouts and stopping a team from completely falling apart and coaching them back in the game is part of it. Stotts failed last night. He doesn't fail all the time but last night me made some mistakes.

I didn’t track his timeouts so I have no idea what he had left. Maybe he could’ve called some or one more not sure. I think if it was a close game and he didn’t use them it’s worse. Last night was a total debacle and the players got what they deserved.

Not the point at all but probably true.

Well, if the point is that international coaches have success like Blatt.... it's more of is there a Z in the X and Y variants? Correlation/Causation type of deal. Just because he had the amazing record, that doesn't make him the best coach if there is a variable such as Lebron. Lebron can and has taken complete scrubs to the finals, regardless of how the conference looked (and that in itself is a variable).

Ettore Messina
He is an ex international coach that has won 4 Euro championships and has a winning background. He is currently an assistant for the Spurs and yes he has European ties. I think he would be a good replacement if indeed Stotts did leave. Not that i think he is going anywhere. But the question was "Who would you replace him with?"
I would think he would also bring along some chances at some good Euro talent beings the Blazers seem to have a hard time attracting American Talent. That was all. But Blatt got thrown into the conversation. Trying to compare Portland to the situation Cleveland was in doesn't really fit the scenario. But Blatt did not do a bad job and his replacement Tyronn Lue has done nothing better. But that is a totally different conversation.

I think you missed it. Point was Ettore would not be in Blatt's shoes here in Portland.
