Neil has to go first.
I honestly don’t care who goes first but it’s become abundantly clear that both need to go. If the ownership group doesn’t value winning and don’t see the championship as their ultimate goal (as opposed to ONLY making money) then I hope the ownership group changes as well. This city deserves it, and the fan base deserves a team whose sole goal is to win another championship.

Not quite sure where you heard this, but I can tell you first hand this isn’t true.
Something I read maybe it's not true but then I recommend maybe they should let the whole coaching staff go at the end of the year if the play doesn't improve.

But I can assure you that if the Blazers fire Stotts (And no it isn't going to be this year) and the new coach ends up no better or even worse (which is a very good possibility) this board will explode. Too many of you either were not around or too young to remember 6 GMs in 5 years and 4 new coaches.

You seem to think that something went wrong if a coach or GM didn't last 10 years. You just don't understand the process: You have to go through several mediocre coaches/GMs to find a top one. Prolonging ordinary coaches like Stotts just delays the discovery of a top one.

It could get worse if the players love him and a new coach, or interim coach, comes in and thinks he’s going to install something better to a bunch of grown men who are pissed off that he’s even there. I am not saying this will happen, but it could happen. It’ll be interstate to see the Timberwolves and how much they improve with this Midseason change. I suspect a short term uptick and then back to being shitty.

Does this team ever watch film? How can you watch the last four games and think .. 'yeah, let's do this again night after night!' Our shot selection is straight butt cheeks and being last in assists per game is a recipe for another first round exit. It really doesn't matter about the personnel at this point, the Blazers do not play winning basketball.

If Melo, Hood, Cov, and Trent had missed wide-open threes off of dribble penetration and ball movment? Sure, you can chalk up a loss to the ball not going in.

But watching every member of the team try to size up their defender from the perimeter and iso their way into a contested jumper? Hell no, that's poor coaching.

Oh i understand the process very well.
Gonna be 87 pages pretty quick.

That post indicates that we are in highschool musical, which we are not.

After tonights game I am aware that not only we don't play any great defence, but we don't play any offence neither.

Argument that players like Stotts is now only argument on his side. How can you even take this argument seriously in professional job?

No, you don't. You worry whether the very next coach will be better than Stotts. That doesn't matter. What matters is that it will start a process of finding a better coach, who may be 2-3 coaches in the future. Just keep changing them every 2-3-4 years.

So you keep reawakening this thread, with the sole purpose of ridiculing those of us who understand the process.

How many times have you been married? Divorce isn't the only way to find a keeper! 3rd time's a charm is just a children's fairy tale! We don't need a team divorce...we just need some marriage counseling and a prenup! I'm here to give kjironman a break. It's my job now to reawaken the thread and provide the controversy that will make this rival the Melo thread.!

I have been through the process many many times. If you think i don't understand it you are more than wrong. It ain't me "reawakening" this thread. You are wrong about that also obviously. You are also very wrong about my "Sole' purpose.
How about that? You are wrong three times in the same comment. That might be a record for the day?
Going on 88 pages....

I just want them both fired so we can stop reading posts about it. So fucking nauseating.

You realize very shortly after the new coach/GM starts, people will be calling for them to be fired, right?

It's sports message board 101:
  • The coach sucks
  • The GM is an idiot
  • The bench players are better than the starters.

Yes of course but at least then we can lay into those people and they’ll have nothing to come back with. Short conversations I think.

Same posters will just use different names to say basically the same thing...the big question is...who get the Meyers Leonard treatment this season?

I believe it more like: the optimists think they are realists; the pessimists think they are realists; the realists think like me

How are we still getting teabagged by the same schemes as three years ago?? How is that NOT a coaching issue? How does Stotts actually make this team better?

Because our roster still has poor defending point of attack guards, wings who teams aren't worried about as shooters, and right now, a center who is considered one of the worst defenders in the league. And the coach too, but mostly the roster creatation.

Defense starts with the ability to defend one on one.

so you opened a “fire Stotts” thread? You sound smart.
Just thought I’d pop in to see if there was anything new to read about. Nope. So I thought I’d just comment that it’s boring so fire and trade everyone.

s.gif Meanwhile, Stotts listens to Led Zeppelin for inspiration.

Updated after the Pierce and Saunders firings.

Well, as much as I think Stotts is pretty uninspired, of the coaches listed ahead of him, the only ones I'd rather have for Portland are Brad Stevens and Rick Carlisle.

Id add Bud for sure. Could go either way on Carlisle. He's kinda overrated

Id add Bud for sure.

Lol I'd easily take so Spoelstra, Bud and Malone over him without a second thought.

Spoelstra wasn't ahead of him on the list, or I'd have included him.

As for Bud, you guys keep talking about how Stotts can't change his schemes. That's what's done Bud in, in Atlanta and especially Milwaukee. Being too inflexible with his style of play and getting waxed in the playoffs.

You say that as if it's bad. To alleviate your fear of changing anything, you want to keep mediocre people forever.

To repeat, the process is: Keep changing people until you get someone really good.
