Sorry, sure. Not counting this season him and wes have 2 years left, and Batum only 3. trade them all. There's an 8th grader somewhere that might be able to open a window for us.

I'm just curious how exactly a window timeline works.

We can trade him for someone that isn't born yet (imaginary player)

Chris Paul and Blake griffin will never work they are not in the same window. ZOMB!!!!!!!

Time to trade cp3 for unknown point guards and draft picks ASAP!!!!!!!

They should have never added Paul, Bledsoe fit the window better.

For the record -- I was a huge Z-Bo fan.

The only reason why I didn't care all that much when he was traded was because of the arrival of a (then) healthy Greg Oden.

Considering CP3 is a free agent this summer, and only has one good leg...... no he really doesn't fit Blake's window.

You guys wonder why people get hostile, but SlyPokerDog is a snarky prick.

wow, nice personal attack from a mod. nice conversation. You get upset people don't like your idea, they joke about it, you call them pricks. LOL. Seriously, how do windows work? Do all players have to be the same age? Can there be an outlier? Why don't all teams do this?

Time to call the whaaaaamubulance....!

Ok. I apologize for mocking your poor vision in regards to basketball franchise building and analysis.

We can have a debate without you guys being sarcastic assholes. What exactly was "my idea"? That trading Aldridge wasn't a bad one? I stand by it. I'm not saying the team should rush out and deal him for the first pile of crap they are offered. I'm simply saying they shouldn't turn down an offer that makes the team better, and I think trading Aldridge could make the team better. What have you offered other than to say he's not that old and that it's a bad idea? How would you make the team better in the next two years before he becomes a free agent?

Always easy to make fun when you've offered nothing in return.

I will repeat that I am not opposed to trading anyone on the roster. You should always look to upgrade if you can. I am opposed to it in the case of Aldridge not fitting some window of ours. I think he could very easily be a 1B/1A sort of swap with Lillard currently, and for the next season, perhaps, and slowly slide out of that role as he crumbles apart at 30 years old, and take more of a backseat to Batum as well.

Nate has a point guys...

I mean Lillard and Aldridge are a whopping 5 years apart.

Kobe and Shaq were only 6 years apart. Duncan and Parker only 6 years apart.

It just doesn't work by my calculations. Sorry to break it to you.

Oh okay, I'm wondering at what point does Aldridge become Shaq or Duncan in this scenario?

Make the team better by drafting a good young player similar to the two we added to the roster this year, use our cap space to hopefully add a good player in an unbalanced trade, a team looking to shed salary, and fill in the bench behind that, or use the available money to fill in the bench, if no trade materializes. Take a swing at top free agents, then move on to quality bench pieces. Does it win us a title next season? No, probably not. Does trading Aldridge, or does that push our window even further away?

Right around the time your window theory makes sense.

That's laughable. Aldridge is a borderline All-Star right now. Borderline

You just compared him to arguably the best center of all-time and arguably the best power forward of all-time. My window "theory" is that Aldridge will be at the tail end of his prime when Lillard and Batum are just coming into theirs.... and he'll be a free agent.

We're talking about a guy who is only 27 and yet, he's had continuing heart problems, he's had hip problems, and our training staff doesn't have the best record in the league. What apart about the window "theory" doesn't make sense?

He didn't compare Aldridge to either. He compared a gap in age. Sorry if this was snarky, don't want you to cry or call me names again.

Here's the problem we won't be anywhere near as high in the lottery this year most likely. We will have cap space, and maybe we get lucky and sign a difference maker, but that list of free agents isn't mind blowing. Some of the best UFAs are power forwards and point guards.... that doesn't help us much. We aren't getting the top free agents. Dwight Howard is not coming here. Outside of CP3 and D12, there aren't any other "top free agents".

Why would it be so bad if we traded Aldridge to someone like Charlotte for MKG and Ben Gordon. Then signed someone like Milsap this summer?

I dunno, MKG is 3 years younger than Lillard. Really, by the time he's hitting his prime, Lillard will be leaving his.

Lets start with the fact I didn't compare him to those two... I brought up examples that show your theory of Lillard and Aldridge being in two different windows false. They're not.

There five years apart. Nobody's saying he's untouchable, but saying he doesn't fit in Lillard's window or basing your decision on what you think we'll look like in two years is idiotic.

When you say

Aldridge and Lillard
Shaq and Kobe
Duncan and Parker

You're comparing the aforementioned players.

When he specifically lists the years in between, no, he's not.

Can you write a post that isn't dripping in sarcasm? I dare you.

Millsap is the same age as Aldridge. Why is that somehow a better fit age wise?
