Yes. Those "open" threes had a guy running at them hard and getting a hand in their vision.

@Tince So Stotts comes up with a great defensive gameplan for once and you're trying to poke holes in it...? Strange.

It's a total farce. Hopefully it's just people using the same logic against those who think all the made threes against us are because of Terry's defense.
No idea what you're saying here.

It's funny how the people who constantly argue with me when I criticize Stotts start downplaying Stotts' gameplan when he has a great gameplan what I asked and it only gave up 93 points.

I feel like if Stotts didn't I wanted and if I liked him because of it, some Stotts' supporters would stop supporting his coaching decisions.... Kinda funny.

Don't think that was intentional defense, more just poor effort getting around screens or making strong closeouts. While they're missing shots now, this is just playing with fire with NBA players.

Leaving AD and LeBron with single coverage inside is playing with fire too.

Our defense sucks, packing the paint and leaving their shooters open worked great in game 1.

Now I agree it has a lot of risk and we may need to get out on some shooters more in game 2.

But we can leave their shooters open more than we would with basically any other NBA opponent. They are the worst 3pt team in the bubble, and were very bad all season.

The real key is us executing better on offense when they trap Dame. If we get our scoring back to 120ish PPG we can withstand them making many more threes or their stars making more inside. We can't expect to hold them around 93 ppg, so we need to get the offense back!

This isn't high school basketball, a guy running at a shooter without a chance to block it is a wide open shot in the NBA.

I got to disagree with that. You got to make them take the shot or put the ball on the floor or pass. Uncontested is uncontested or way way open.
Where i see the league though is every team works to get open looks. What we consider an open look for Dame is different than other players.

Often the "without a chance to block it" is because the shooter rushed the shot due to the oncoming closeout.

In rewatching, it was not different from how we played many 2 superstar teams this season. The big difference was the Lakers missed a ton of open shots. I'm not saying I thought that plan was bad, I was questioning if you value the quality of looks or the results of those looks.

We'll probably find out the answer to that question tonight.
