Re: BREAKING NEWS

I disagree. The next move is a trade of Bayless or Blake with Outlaw and maybe$ or picks to NY for a S and T with Lee. Then I expect Joel to be moved.

Man, you need to get off of that kick. It might have made a bit of sense to trade Joel if we had gotten Millsap, but without that move, it makes zero sense.

Re: BREAKING NEWS

what i hope will happen is it will take minutes away from the SF spot (batum/webster) with roy moving there against any small lineup and miller/rudy/roy playing together a lot.

PG: Miller (30); Blake (18)
SG: Roy (20); Rudy (28)
SF: Batum (20); Roy (10); Webster/Outlaw/Cunningham (18)
PF: Aldridge (30); Outlaw/Pendergraph (18)
C: Oden (30); Joel (18)

Bayless sits unless he can pass up Blake (I can live with that). Webster and Outlaw can fight for backup SF minutes (or win the start if Webster can).

Re: BREAKING NEWS

They didn't talk about anything we didn't already know regarding specifics. Philly writer speculated the Sixers didn't bring him back because they wanted to go younger, and they were miffed he skipped the team exit interviews at the end of their playoff run.

She also told a story about how he kept a special NBA schedule in his locker and kept stats about where they needed to be record-wise at certain points and what games were must wins, and he updated it after every game.

Thanks. I like the dedication and analytical personality that last anecdote shows.

Re: BREAKING NEWS

Excellent signing, he'll make us much better right away. Although, KP could have sowed up the future of a PG position by going after Ramon Sessions instead. Miller will make us better for the immediate term however.

Re: BREAKING NEWS

Gains: Penetration, Post up ability, Size, and Open Court Strength. Take some load off of Roy.

Losses: Outside shooting.

Unsure if he is an improvement defensivly, my guess is it would be very hard not to, at least a little bit.

How do we lose anything? We are signing a FA.

Re: BREAKING NEWS

I hate the deal, but I hope it works out of the best.

Since I don't have any choice in the matter.

At least Miller is better then Blake and Bayless. Actually better then the two of them put together.

Please Mr Miller, don't suck balls.

lol why do you hate the deal? This is a good thing. Are you just one of those "emo, never happy" Blazer fans?

Re: BREAKING NEWS

Well, we lose the extra minutes that could be allocated to Blake and Bayless. Miller is worse from the 3 point line than either, so in effect we lose outside shooting by bringing him in. Doesn't mean it's not worth it, he was just stating the pro's and con's.

Re: BREAKING NEWS

This is a good thing. Oden and Aldridge will see great improvements in their offensive efficiency and we'll probably see a few more oops to Roy. The backdoor cut for the alley oop was an effective play last year with Brandon being the cutter. Hopefully we'll see it more often with Miller in the fold.

Is there any way that he can pull out of this like Hedo did?

Re: BREAKING NEWS

Tweets from Casey:

At the beginning of the summer I said KP's easiest mistake would be to roll with Blake. Congrats KP. Right move or not, this shows balls .

Re: BREAKING NEWS

Except for the fact that Blake is still on the team, and Rudy is a backup, and you know that Nate will play Blake over Bayless.

Um, thats a good thing dude. We don't want to lose Blake yet. Bayless is NOT ready. FAR FAR from ready.

Re: BREAKING NEWS

I like the signing...not quite teh splash expected when we cleared this cap space....but I guess summer's not over. any moran could have signed andre miller...it'll stabilize the point a bit....kind of push Bayless back the depth charts.

Miller (30) Blake (18)
Roy (35) Rudy (28)
Batum (23) Outlaw (25)
LMA (35)
GO (28) Prz (18)

Position isnt necessary cause our guys are versatile and can be mixed and matched with eachother.

Re: BREAKING NEWS

You'd have to go back to Rod Strickland to find the last true-point guard, right?

In terms of a real distributing pure PG, I'd say yes. And before Rod, you'd have to go way back into the 80's or 70's probably.

I'm very excited about this. The guy has made a living despite a poor jumper, and I think we'll get to see how good this guy is.

Was Webster left out by accident or do you feel that he won't be a factor this year?

I'm having high hope for Martell.

I like that part.

Only if his wife's from Turkey perhaps...lol

I think you are right, but Kenny Vance just made a good point (For once) Last year Greg didn't get many Alley Oops because he didn't really have the legs. I think both Miller and Blake and Rudy and BRoy will be throwing more passes Greg's way this year. Last year he was not ready.

Re: BREAKING NEWS

Was there any way to get Philly to sign him and then ship him to Portland in exchange for Blake? I hope Portland at least had that discussion with Philly.

Because if not, while I think the move is OK, it is an incredibly ineffective use of the cap space.

Re: BREAKING NEWS

I can't wait to hear KP spin this one. "Special fit" my ass.

“He’s got great savvy and leadership,” Pritchard said from Team USA’s practice on Friday. “We like him as a player for sure.

Mark Spears is saying that it's 3 years $22 million and that he will accept the offer. Sorry if it's been posted.

So, his team only offered him a one-year deal at $6 million, others were kicking around the idea of the MLE, yet Portland uses all of their cap space to sign him?

Oh well, I guess he can't hurt the team, and having a respected veteran around he can still play can't hurt.

And what would you have done better? Realistic please.

I do too.. unfortuantely there wont be room for him.

Re: BREAKING NEWS

I can't wait to debate this move, but this Summer is a fucking success!

Yes, we missed out on Hedo, but we screwed a Divisional rival, got an elite-level point guard, kept the fire stoked by drafting Claver, got a steal in the second round with Cunningham, added more quality young men in Pendergraph and Mills, AND we still have Bayless, Blake, and Outlaw to move for another quality piece.

Pritchard is god. I bow to him. Halelujah, I'm out!
