I haven't....nothin' easy about it...I recommend a jacket or towel held in both hands...sort of like dealing with a rabid dog...minimize your chance for injury and give yourself protection...you don't grab a knife with your bare hands if you have a choice...training...a little knowledge can go along way unless you pretend you're a hand to hand combat expert facing another hand to hand combat expert....wisdom comes from experience...snark away all you want

If we're going to arm people in schools, I think the better idea would be to have police on campus.
Not that they're perfect in any way (rash decisions), but I'd much rather trust a police in that situation than a teacher who is already stressed enough.

It's odd how the answer to the issue of ease of gun access/wrong people getting guns/making things unsafe in schools, seems to be just throw more guns at it. I am willing to bet that the vast majority of teachers are against the idea of teachers being the ones who are armed. ​

This is why the dads/grandpappys should roam the halls to protect their kid/grandchild which can do no wrong.

Armed police would be great. It's also an additional expense. An expense I wouldn't be opposed to, but many would. Allowing teachers the option to carry wouldn't be an additional expense to the populace, because it would be voluntary.

I don't think anyone believes that allowing teachers to carry is "the" answer. Most who support it consider it "a" step.

The president and conservatives are brain storming real solutions that liberals are likely to block because banning guns is their only solution and it is simply not an idea based in reality. There are too many guns in this country. You dont pay enough taxes to support a gun grab. Not to mention that pesky constitution would have to be amended.

Mean while conservatives are offering tangible ideals that could be put in place rather quickly.

But yeah. Thought and prayers is all they offer.

Some of the teachers who want to be armed, shouldn't be armed though. A good guy with a gun (in this case, a teacher) doesn't always project people.

Lets not put more of the burden on the teachers than we need to. I say we come up with something to stop it happening in the first place.​

So lets do a hypothetical here.
Lets say a law passes which allows teachers to arm themselves if they choose to.
Then lets say a whole staff chooses to not carry.
Now lets say that school who has no teachers armed because they chose not to... Gets shot up.

Do you think the teachers at the school are called irresponsible?
Do you think they receive death threats? That they're told they weren't doing their job?
Do you see them receiving any backlash at all?

I bet they'd get called cowards, even if they died in the shooting as well.

There have been plenty of incidents were citizens put their lives on the line to stop a terrorist attack when citizens had no weapons.

Actually they did.

Up until that time hijackings were for money or to release political prisoners. SOP was to remain calm and it would eventually end. No one on the first 3 planes thought this would be different or that their plane was to be used as a weapon. The people on the last plane learned of what happened to the first three planes in talking with people on the ground and acted heroically.

Arming teachers is the genius idea? That's the fix you speak of? If you think - which you do - that Conservatives have come up with the solutions and Liberals have not had a single idea - then there truly is no point in discussing (not that you have been discussing this, just throwing out insults).
