Rocky mountain oysters?
One time when relocating from St. Louis to Seattle, my wife and I stopped in Wyoming to eat dinner. I tried to get my wife to order some Rocky mountain oysters as a seafood dinner. We had been married for 11 years by that time and she smelled a rat and refused to fall for it.

Ive spent a ton of time in St. Louis. My uncle played for the Cardinals in the 80’s. As a kid I loved it there. Used to go to games all the time for free, great seats. As an adult it sucks when I go back.

What part of St. Louis were you in? Did you like it?
 
Who was your uncle? This baseball fan wants to know if you feel comfortable saying.

Going to Wyoming this weekend, hopefully I dont end up partaking in those

Did your uncle play for the baseball team or the football team?
I lived in Spanish Lake but worked in Ferguson on Florissant Rd.
St. Louis was comprised mostly of suburbs. I think I counted 99 on a street map.
They had great food everywhere and at cheap prices but traffic and crime were nightmares.
I never could get used to the temperatures which were around 100 in the summer and once got down to -29 in one winter. And then there was the disgraceful litter and the terrible blue laws. I'll never go back although I miss the food.
Can you believe when I was there it was legal to drink an alcoholic beverage while you drive? Also, you could not buy hardware on Sunday nor could you buy alcohol including beer on Sunday. The banks and the grocery stores all closed early around 6 pm if memory serves me.
Oh, and don't expect to cash a check unless you have a St. Louis check guarantee card. A check guarantee card from Kansas City, Missouri will not work in St. Louis Missouri. My check guarantee card from Oregon was no good in Missouri.
Two of our secretaries got robbed at gun point while driving back from a lunch break. They lost their purses and their wedding rings in the robbery.

He was a pitcher on their baseball teams in the 80’s.

They lived in a suburb called Chesterfield. They sold their old house to Kurt Warner.

Yeah the humidity and bugs sucked. Ticks and leeches were always an issue

I remember Chesterfield, it was up scale. Never had a problem with bugs.
I loved the shortstop for the Cardinals, Ozzie Smith. Didn't really care for baseball but he was phenomenal.
 
Anyone have a good pot roast recipe they'd be willing to share?

I used to but my girlfriend doesn't eat beef or pork, so that RAM in my brain has been cleared for more chicken and fish recipes.

Of course.
I prefer a chuck roast, combine with a couple of cups of water, one bay leaf, salt and pepper to taste, some peeled potatoes. Cook a long time like 2 or three hours. Then add some peeled whole white onions. Last, add some carrots but don't cook them too long or they will lose their flavor. The carrots need to be firm when pierced with a fork when serving to retain their flavor and sweetness. Serve with the au jus to add moisture to the pot roast and a sort of gravy over the potatoes.
Delicious now and when served as a left over. We only add enough carrots for each meal so their still good and not over cooked. Same could be said for the onions.
We usually dust the chuck roast with flour and cook until the meat is brown before adding water and potatoes.

I can't mask the fact that I dislike rocky mountain oysters. I'm more into brain food....like sweetbreads! ;)
