For or Against Gay Marriages?

you can eat what you like I was just putting what I've heard I and believe is right to eat

I'm for gay marriage. I'm not gay, but I think they have the right to get married like anyone else does. Bush is trying to justify by saying "the Bible says that gay marriage is wrong." But what about the separtation of church and state? A law cannot be justified based on a religious belief.

good point but do you believe they should be able to have children (adopted obviously).

I'm and exec on my school's student council, and today my principal tells me that we have to do a matchmaker service that caters to gays now too (on valentine's day, you all know those questionnares that tells you which people you match up best with in your school). Not only does it cost us more money, but I'm going to be on some gay guys list. That creeps the hell out of me.

How gullible must people be to believe what is written in the bible?

I hope I'm on your list XSV

lol

I just hope being on some random gay guy's list doesn't traumatize you too badly.

Well you are to some extent, when you consider the norms and values of society: do not steal, do not murder and so on which are set though the bible.

If you're in highschool (which I'm assuming), how many high school students do you know that have openly admitted they were gay? I only know one kid at my school, and he told only the girls in one of his class and he hangs out with only girls...not a lot of people know he's gay cause if everyone (more "popular or "badder" kids) found out, that guy would always be ridiculed and looked down upon.

Thou shalt not murder... yea, why would anybody bother with that?

Man, if every guy here were trapped inside a woman's body you know you guys would go after any of the following:

Angelina Jolie
Jessica Alba
Natalie Portman
Keira Knightley
Charlize Theron
Scarlett Johansen
and so on

I think the only reason a lot of guys feel so strongly against gay marriage is mainly because of the religious term "marriage" and how that goes against religious doctrine. The other is how that might challenge the church's or whatever religion's ideals about what a real family should be like if they are same sex couples that choose to adopt children or get a "dna" donor. Another is the sodomy (another religious term) that will probably go on between male couples, but it can also happen between straight couples. What goes on behind closed doors is their business IMO, just never speak of it unless it happens to be some hot girl on girl action.

But for those who aren't religious, I think it's because if anything involves a dude, it's kind of gross, man. But I'm sure if there was a ray gun that turned everyone straight into gay people, they'd think differently about how limited their life would be because of society and the pressure turned against them. i.e. they feel they cannot achieve the American dream compared to "normal" people because they would be treated like outcasts.

But since I'm straight, I'll go with the side that's willing to call gay marriage something else and not challenge other's traditional beliefs or terminology. Call it "gay union" but not marriage. No group should force their beliefs on others like how gays and lesbians are doing it to churches to be acknowledged and how some churches are doing it to society. I mean to each his/her own. It makes life more interesting.

Now if my wife should ever turn gay and marry someone else that's a woman. Damn, then I'll probably change my stance quickly. LOL.

I'd hope the whole world would preach tolerance of others who are tolerant in return. Like there's no tolerating nazi's or bigots or whatnot because they are not tolerant, but peaceful people that are just different from others, should be tolerated. I have no problem with gays and lesbians as long as they cool.

Actually, there are more than you'd think. My school has a big arts program, so I know of a few gays at my school, and at least 10 that are strongly suspected of being gay (lispy voice, feminine, etc.). There aren't a lot of "bullies" at my school because the principals are super strict, so they're not afraid of coming out. All the schools in our division are required to have gay-friendly matchmaker services.

That's quite interesting because the dude from my school is an dramatic arts student as well...Also, if it were just for feminine/lipsy voices, there's a shi*tload of "suspected" gay and bisexual people in our school.

But on the real, not many at my school would actually admit to something like that...firstly cause I don't think many would actually accept at this point that they're gay, and secondly because they would be ridiculed and laughed at from a distance (or even personally)...that's just how ignorant my school is on issues such as this. For every intelligent person with an open mind in highschool, there are ALOT of people who don't have those same views and only stick to one side. I'd like to give the guy credit (the one who told the girls) for atleast being brave enough to come out, but when he goes off telling the girls which guys he thinks is hot and what not and the girls end up telling the dude that he thought is hot, then it gets uncomfortable and awkward and creates unncesccary friction.

Ignorant student bodies in highschool + gay teenagers= bad combination.

This basically sums up my thoughts. Well said CR2.
