For those that think we suck...

Comparing Rodman (who also played with Jordan. And Kobe?) and Bowen to Duncan/Robinson/Jordan/Pippen/Kobe/Shaq? Uh huh. There's no doubt that Pops has had some tremendous talent - but his teams have never been dependent on that talent the way Phil was dependent on his (even greater) talent. Pops has won by surrounding his talent with low-level scrubs, while Phil surrounded the two best players in the league with fairly deep rosters (at least in LA).

I also don't get your point about DET failing after Larry left. Yeah, after Larry left DET sucked. That's because they weren't coached by Larry, they were coached by Flip "Sucky" Saunders! Same team (essentially), different coach - it proves that Larry was a great coach with a great system and that Flip sucks as a coach.

Pops = System
Larry = System
Sloan = System
Phil = coat-tails
Scrubs that won under Phil...Adam Morrison, Will Perdue, Greg Foster, Bill Wennington, Luc Longley, Sasha. Smush Parker, BJ Armstrong, it's a long list. Every team has them. I hate Phil Jackson's triangle and style but can't argue with his ability to win with two organizations. Now he's coming down to earth in New York and we'll see if Pop continues to win like he has..he didn't coach very well when they lost in the playoffs last season. I could see the Spurs coming down to earth and age catching up to them in the near future.

Just saying, despite some of the claims made earlier in this thread about what "nobody is saying," I AM super-excited about this roster as it stands, and I DO think that this roster (with development) can be a WCF team in three years.
  • Dame is already a superstar and will reach another level this year,
  • Hendo is a solid if unspectacular starter, and exactly what we need at the 2 right now
  • CJ is all set to be the league's next super-sub,
  • Aminu as a starter will be DPOY-level,
  • Crabbe is salivating at the opportunity to show what he can do with regular time,
  • Harkless not only has all the tools to be an effective backup SF, but now also the motivation
  • Leonard can score from anywhere on the floor, and is ready to hit the big-time
  • Plumlee and Davis may be the league's most efficient 1-2 punch at the center position
  • Vonleh's talent is off the charts, and will be an all-star by the end of this decade
  • Alexander has enormous untapped potential, and will surprise all of you once he earns some PT
No, we're not a title team today, but these guys are young enough that the PT they'll get this year will allow for impressive improvement and development, but they're also going to be good enough that they'll be able to develop without the sub-20-win type season that can damage a player's psyche permanently. 1 year from now, we will all be expecting a playoff-caliber team, and within 3, we'll be ready to hang banners.

None of y'all homer like I homer!

< 30 wins
Great analysis

A few more posts like this and I might be persuaded to join Daniel - San and take on the whole Cobra Kai dojo!

I still don't think that's much of an argument (the first part). Saying Larry's system didn't work after he left is BS - it wasn't Larry's system anymore, it was Flip's best impersonation of Larry. And because Flip sucks it didn't work.
It took the right roster for Larry's system to work, but it wasn't dependent on having the best players in the league like "Phil's system".
Orion nailed it...you misread my post..Larry Brown coached without success for two teams I believe after his championship with the Pistons..I think it was Charlotte then Philly at the end for a second try with Iverson

Hornets and the Knicks

Remember Phoenix in fall 2013? EVERYONE in here and around the league had Phoenix finishing dead last in the West. They ended up winning 48 games. We could be similar.

Sorry guys. Forgot about rehearsal last night. Didn't even get online Having a pool party tonight, so wont get this fixed until tomorrow evening at the earliest, but I will drop more stats and fixes so that everyone goes bugg eyed on how we actually do fit in with the upper half of the league, minus the experience.
