Simply amazing actor. Anybody see The Last King of Scotland? Personally, i haven't seen it yet, but I'm dying for late April to come around when it is released on DVD. His performance on The Shield blows away any acting I've seen on TV recently.

I'd go as far as to say he's a top 3 actor out there right now, ahead of Denzel.

I haven't seen that many movies with him in them (I can only remember that Samurai one, and some other one), but he seems so calm and not able to show agression. Correct me if I'm wrong.

Forest is a very underrated actor (i recall posting that some time last year) who is finally getting his dues. who ever said Denzel is a better actor? personally, i think it's:

1. Morgan Freeman
2. Forest Whitaker
3. Denzel Washington

what i love about Djimon is the fact he REALLY REALLY works at his craft. he also uses his eyes a lot to act and very well, might i add (i have no clue what the term is, but i'm sure if there are any actors here onJBB, they might tell us). With that said, there is no way he is better than Morgan Freeman. But, to eachhis own.

Are any of you guys actors? I am. Just don't rent my movie on Netflix - I was good but the movie - ehhh.
On acting talent level alone, I think Denzel is a little overrated. But then he is a leading man movie star, those guys are usually not the most expressive actors. He's a WAY better actor than Tom Cruise that's for sure. Djimon Hounsou is one of the most expressive actors i've ever seen. His performance in In America should've won Best Supporting Oscar imo.
Since you're talking about black actors, don't forget Jeffrey Wright - that guy is so versatile it makes me sick.
Some of the best actors working right now are:
Leonardo DiCaprio
Robert Downey, Jr.
Christian Bale

Daniel Day Lewis though is the best technical film actor right now...easily...

Mel Gibson and Nicolas Cage are not technically amazing actors but they give strong performances and I usually like their work.

Agree that Denzel is overrated, hes a very good actor but not as good as many make him out to be. All the others you listed are very good as well, my favorite actors would probably be Morgan Freeman, Tom Hanks, and Matt Damon (very underrated IMO).

Matt Damon is extremely under-rated. He plays great roles in wide varieties (the quit, serious Jason Bourne, the timid Linus Caldwell, the crazy Tom Ripley and Will Hunting).
He is also meant to be one of the nicer guys going around Hollywood - he does some great interview too.

I'd put him as my favourite actor, Hugh Jackman I also like, Morgan Freeman, Denzel (don't see many bad Denzel movies), DiCaprio (enjoyed a lot of his movies despite his 'pretty boy' tag from Titanic)

Matt Damon is boring in interviews. Especially his recent in Details. Snoozefest. Great actor though, one of my fave's.

Forest is good, but I don't care for Denzel that much. Not that he's a bad actor or anything, I just don't care for it.
