Joel Embiid's physical with the Cavs didn't go well, and raised plenty of "red flags" ESPN reports he's out of the race for the #1 pick.

That's more than enough for me to forget that he even exists - if true.

Otoh - Chris Sheridan said his physical went fine.

leaking so they can trade down to 3 and still get him?

Didn't Chris Sheridan give a first place vote to Harden for his Defense?

Joel Embiid, considered the front-runner to be the No. 1 overall pick in the NBA draft, has suffered a foot injury, his mentor confirmed to ESPN.com. Luc Mbah a Moute, who is overseas, was not certain as to the extent of the injury. It also is unclear as to which foot was injured. "I just heard he got hurt," Mbah a Moute said. ESPN.com

I can see it now. He falls to the L*kers, who sit him for the year, let Kobe's contract run out, tank, get another lotto pick and unlimited money to sign Durant + ??? to build a superteam.

He will fall in the draft and a team like San Antonio will take a chance on him.

he will fall but nowhere near SA. He won't drop out of the top 10, heck id be shocked if he fell past 5.

Isn't he the next Greg Oden? It'd be funny if they drafted him then.

Adrian Wojnarowski @WojYahooNBA
Joel Embiid has suffered stress fracture in right foot and slated for surgery on Friday, agent Arn Tellem says.

Joel Embiid has suffered a stress fracture in the navicular bone in his right foot, Yahoo!'s Adrian Wojnarowski has confirmed.

Embiid will not attend next week's draft in New York.

Embiid had already been dealing with health concerns regarding his back.

Embiid averaged 11.2 points, 8.1 rebounds and 2.6 blocks this past season as a freshman at Kansas.

I love (not) how the media works these days. There is a rumor that Embiid hurt his foot. The media calls an acquaintance, who is overseas and is no where near the situation at the moment. The acquaintance heard the same rumor. The acquaintance confirms that he heard the rumor, which is reported as "confirmation" that the foot injury did in fact occur. Is that about right?

I'm not doubting that the guy hurt his foot, just amused at how the 'media' works.

exactly why the Blazers should never have drafted Lillard

big difference in breaking a foot if your a gaurd then when your a big man. Foot and Back problems are the bane of bigmen and now he has had issues with both.

This would really make me nervous if I was cleveland. They desperately need to get it right this time around.

Christ! He also had the same back stress fracture in HS?

In his four years of organized basketball:

- back stress fracture
- back stress fracture
- foot stress fracture

Stay.

The.

Fuck.

Away.

I have heard rumors of Cavs trading out of the number one pick for Favors and the number five from Utah. Given how Cleveland just completely flopped on their last number one, it kind of makes sense. Get a good already valuable big man who has room for growth and a chance at another high pick, which they have as much chance of picking correctly as having the number one pick. And yeah, I would stay away from Embiid unless I was a team that had two lottery picks and picked him later as a kind of late lottery flyer.

I basically wouldn't take him unless I was the 76'ers at 10 or the Magic at 12. They would both already take whoever was first on the draft board with their first selection. Drafting Embiid with a bonus lottery pick makes sense, even with health concerns.

Sullinger slid all the way to pick 21

Could see something similar with Embiid

At this point I think the risk vs reward on Embiid has him around the 5th or 6th pick. IF the Cleveland Utah trade happened I could see Cleveland taking him at 5. I really think Wiggins is the prize in this draft though, Cleveland should just take him imo.

His history is worse than I thought.

All these stress fractures in a short period of time is major red flag. And that's an understatement.

His body, even at his young age, is falling apart.

He's Greg Oden.

I'd probably take him if I could buy a pick and get him in the 20's

Yeah. But would you trade Meyers for him? :)
