Former Portland Trail Blazer Travis Outlaw has been arrested on a federal marijuana charge.

Look, jaywalking is illegal but I don't think people should go to jail for it. I know there are literally hundreds of thousands of rape kits untested and police say they don't have the resources. But they bust someone for smoking pot? Please.

For all you self righteous folks, ever drive 5 miles above the speed limit? If a store gives you too much change, do you hand it back? Ever litter?
Who was it who said something about let he who is without sin be first to cast a stone?

I see a ton of defense of any athlete charged with assaulting his girlfriend but when Travis or Sheed smokes pot, the same people are all up in their law abiding snits.

I think marijuana and prostitution should be legal, so we can tax the shit out of it and make it safer for the people involved. It's not though, so either don't do it, or don't bitch when you get arrested.

I do not always see eye to eye with MM - but imho he is on the money here. If you are unwilling to work on changing the system from within or too impatient for it to happen in the time it takes, do not bitch if you pay for breaking the law. It's that simple.

You either work to change it legally - or the price of changing it "illegally" is something you should be willing to pay.

But you can spend a lifetime trying to make a change and have nothing happen.

And then there is this....

Ive been smoking pot my whole life. But I was in the wrong. But now the law has been changed and its okay. SO what they told me was wrong and punished me for years ago is now considered right. Do I get my money in fines and time spent in jail back because the government was wrong?
Hell no.
So just because something is against the law doesn't mean its right and it doesn't mean it will ever be changed. and it doesn't mean you should obey it. It means there are imperfections everywhere in this world including the government, but the government has not made amends to all those who have been wrongly punished over the years, so Why should I give a shit about a consensual crime that doesn't harm anyone else, other than the fact that I might be punished for it?

Life is about taking chances. Sometimes you have to take chances on ridiculous laws as well.
Fuck obey the law as a black and white because the laws have been wrong.

So when a law says your allowed to only bathe once a day, but you stink after 3 hours of basketball and you showered before hand. Are you waiting until the next day to shower?

Sorry, but its not black and white. Its grey and laws get broken on a daily basis in every state and many laws that are absurd, cops will look the other way on as well.

In most states its illegal to spit in public, but if your choking on something or have something disgusting in your mouth like a bug that flew in it walking down the sidewalk, are you not gonna spit it out?

This black is black and white is white thing about laws is a bunch of crap.

There are also moral laws that the government has a conflict in trying to legislate. Is it up to God or the State?

There are also laws that have changed from legal to illegal back to legal again all based on the representatives in office. How much of a joke is that and who is right?

Who was right during the prohibition?

You don't just obey any law because its a law. There must be some common sense involved and often common sense doesn't come from the masses. It comes from the individuals. That's why when people gather its a cluster fuck of anarchy more often than not when protesting something.
You sure that black is truly black?

You have the right to do what you think is best for you. If I don't feel like waiting for a stop light at 3 am with no cars in sight, I don't have to. It's stupid to wait. However, if a cop is just out of my vision and pulls me over, I have no right to be upset because I know I am supposed to stop.

However if you J-Walk in the middle of the day on a street with no cars around and a cop on a bike gives you a ticket, yes you do have the right to be upset.
