I'm calling bs on this post....you have brought up one voting factor in your decision to vote Trumps ticket...and posted pretty regularly about his detractors while showing little awareness of the opposition candidates ….and for one single issue. I've brought up many issues ...Warren and Klobuchar have detailed plans for criminal justice reform. Warren and Sanders want to give new families some debt relief from college loans to support their ability to buy a house, start a small business or raise a child. If a candidate interests me, I read their website...I've read several. When talked about here, it just becomes lumped into .."I don't like the left wing ideology" from your camp...no details, just a generalization justified by one point of contention. Walk the walk. The talking points in the democratic debates also have pointed out health care plans...tax fairness according to income levels, our role in global diplomacy...you either listen to the debates, read their websites or just complain that you don't like them for your one reason.

At this early point, none of the Democrats interest me...and they may never. I'm simply saying why are y'all not moving on and discussing "in here" the attributes of your various candidates, as opposed to trotting out the latest and greatest Trump-bashing points? I even went to the 2020 Field DNC thread wanting to be more informed - even making comments in there as such - without much success.

Invariable, when I'm discussing Trump et al with y'all, it's been when I've been asked questions directly (and/or remarks directed towards me), and am simply responding to those.

when he is gone, I will move on. When you are gone, I won't respond to you. :bgrin:

As I mentioned to riverman, my political comments invariably come from yours and others questions. You won't be seeing me calling you out, mon frere.

you said nothing can be done but impeachment...there are three other options. He resigns....he's beaten at the voting booth...he's convicted of crimes and imprisoned. ….Nixon was smart enough to resign before he could become impeached...Trump would be smart to cut a deal and move on.

Just an aside......in the past 2 1/2 years I have driven extensively throughout this country and seen most of it. While Oregon highways may have their issues, ours are WAY better than virtually every state’s highways I have driven on outside the west coast. And that is no small exaggeration. The highways in the Midwest (especially) are a travesty and it’s hard to understand why the trucking industry (in particular) isn’t up in arms about it. In many cases I chose to take secondary roads because they were in better condition. I was grateful to be back on western roads. And after the last trip I sold the car I bought for road tripping because I was so concerned about the beating it had taken. So maybe it ain’t saying much, but Oregon roads are better than most. And for what it’s worth, I wish we could sweep Kate Brown out of office with Donald Trump. They’re both crooks. Only the gender is different....
I haven’t traveled east of the Mississippi, but have driven the west extensively. The only roads I can think of that are worse than Oregon’s are maybe Washington and definitely Idaho’s. Idaho being the worst by far. Colorado, Montana, Wyoming, Nebraska, both Dakotas, even Utah...all have drastically better roads than Oregon. Shit, even Texas had better roads than Oregon, although they are lined with trash. I’m not saying Oregon roads are terrible, but the precipitation takes its toll.

Where I live our gas tax has funded road repairs...we have great roads now compared to 20 years ago....and I live near a small town...Eugene is two years away from completing the rebuilding the city streets and highways...they have been working on them constantly the last couple of years...Hawaii had the best roads I've seen in America....with the volcano the road crews are good at repairing things quickly...they don't have very complicated routes though....easier to maintain I guess. I've heard Alaska has terrible roads

last time i was in texas i noticed how CLEAN the freeways were compared to oregon, total opposite if your take. ive never seen more trash along freeways than in oregon.

I have heard Alaska’s are terrible as well. And I don’t want to sound biased or toot my own horn, but Wyoming roads really are a thing of beauty. Wide, smooth, always freshly painted and paved with pink scoria. It’s like the episode of Seinfeld where they widened the roads and Kramer kept falling asleep while driving because they were so nice. Maybe that’s too much of a good thing though.

I was in south Texas, south of SA. It was pretty bad down there. You could probably fill a lawn bag in 100 feet.

i was in dallas and houston. must be different further south. im always amazed at the trash in oregon. for such a state that takes pride in its beauty, it sure can be ugly.

I drove I-80 through one end of Wyoming to the other at the end of March. To be honest, I was punching through so much snow (and fixated on the tail lights of the semis in front of me.....great snow plows by the way) that the physical conditions of the road weren’t even on my mind. But I don’t remember my car being pummeled too badly (other than by the constant...and ungodly...wind). But trust me, cross the Mississippi and it feels like you’ve gone off road. Not sure why that is, but it’s no exaggeration. And I found that the highways in most “non western” states to be much trashier than Oregon’s.......but they all could be far cleaner than they are.

I think it's because the Midwest and much of the east coast sits above underground lakes and rivers...causes tons of sinkholes and it's why you can grow corn without watering in Iowa....underground melted glaciers from the Ice Age....it's also below sea level there and subjected to tornados and heavier storms than we have out west..a giant flood plain...big hail stones...also lots of farm machinery driving on the roads that eats up the asphalt...and they salt pretty heavily all winter as well...makes me love Oregon just thinking about it

For fucks sake, can the GOP minions crying about this impeachment inquiry being closed door read the freaking constitution once? This isn't a trial, morons-- this is an investigation, and what's known as a grand jury. That happens in the senate and this POS POTUS will get all the time he wants to try to defend himself there *during the ACTUAL trial*.

How the hell do I (whose only knowledge of this stuff comes from a high school AP US History class) understand this, but elected officials with law degrees don't? Debar all these fools.

Yeah, that’s kind of the shitty, windy part of Wyoming down there. Wind makes everything so much worse, it’ll blow you right off the road if it’s slick enough. As bad as the winters get I’m still glad they don’t salt the roads here. Go to Minnesota and you’ll see nearly brand new vehicles with rust holes in them already.

Are you implying that is bigoted? I don't see it.

Yeah, by the time I got through upper Michigan, Wisconsin and Minnesota, my white car was beige from all the salt slush. I called it my “Midwest tan”......the very first thing I did when I got near home was to run the car through a car wash that also did the undercarriage. That said, salted roads were much easier to drive on than those that weren’t. What an awful choice......

What does that have to do with the Tweet you referenced? That is definitely on you.
Just providing a list of additional occurrences of past bigotry from the person that tweeted the original bigoted tweet I referenced.

Comparing a constitutional process to the murders of African-American's. He might as well say his presidency is like slavery.

Agree to disagree, that's fine. Maybe my definition of bigoted is incorrect. Either way, the shit this guy says is just abhorrent.

So it’s the word “lynching”? I’m assuming you know white people have been lynched?

Luckily no Democrats made that comparison when Bill Clinton was being impeached.

Ugh. “Yeah but we were lynched too”. Great argument. 75% of lynchings were black people. And they make up what % Of the population? And of course some of the white people were lynched because they helped....black people. Trying to defend Trumps offensiveness has to be exhausting.

I'm aware that it was primarily an action upon African-Americans during a time of serious racism. Again, I'm fine with an agree to disagree situation here.

Where the heck is this place?
Louisiana and I read Death Valley is as well..there are many places that are close but the point is with underground lakes and low altitude flood plains damage roads, tracks, have regular sinkholes, etc
