FOX to buy NY Yankees: Talk
Phil Mushnick doesn't normally report these kind of things, but today:

Going on nothing more than a recurring rumor from high places, FOX, now the majority owner of YES, is prepared to buy the Yankees.

Maybe the new owners can add names to the back of the jerseys. For a team that cost as much as the 2014 Yanks did, they are quite forgettable to watch. No?

Not a good thing remembering the CBS Yankees. Imagine this team being associated with morons like Rosenthal. Damn I'd hope that doesn't happen. Would love to see Jeter buy into the ownership group after he retires.

Bummer, though it would be better to whack that trio than to sell the team to Fox.

Honestly, I really don't see it happening. And when & if the time comes that the Steinbrenners do sell the team I also hope that Jeter is part of it.

Not buying the rumor. No one associated with a deal of this magnitude would be leaking rumors. The only exception I can see is if its perceived to have significant backlash, which it does so the exception is moot.

MLB would likely omit FOX from playoff/series coverage if they owned a team, let alone the Yankees. Deal breaker there. Nah, I could see the ownership group selling shares. What wouldn't surprise me is if they floated an option to buy into the team to ARod as a chance to regain lost capital. Now that would define irony.

That would indeed be ironic

Sacrilege..........Murdoch and the Yankees. Enough to make me vomit.
