"Down here in LA, with the Lakers 0-5 and not looking to get better anytime soon, talk radio is all about whether the Lakers should trade Kobe. Thought being to spare him the ignominy of going out a loser, as well letting him go to a contender where he can try to get another ring or two.

So my question is, would the Blazers hypothetically entertain a trade for Kobe for the last two seasons of his career? What would they have to give up? Would he fit into the style of play and culture of the Blazers? And finally would Kobe realistically get Portland closer to competing for a championship?

Fabian"

Not at this point. Maybe you could overlook his 40% shooting from the field, 30% shooting from the arc, and the fact that he uses almost 40% of his team's possessions in the process. Perhaps you could chalk it up to the company he's keeping, speculating he'd be more efficient with better players around him. Even so, the Blazers would never get past his playing style and salary.

Kobe is one of the best players to ever stand on NBA hardwood. Kobe knows this well. Believing he's the most talented guy on the floor, Kobe's going to put himself first...all the time. That's the antithesis of Portland's offensive system. The Blazers hate bad shots. Kobe's whole career has been built on proving there's no such thing. Now that he's older and not able to compensate for shot selection with athleticism and skill, he'd be breaking Portland's system without bringing enough goodness back into it.

Plus the guy's making $30 flippin' million dollars this year. That's so much more than Portland's entire bench combined that the Blazers couldn't match salaries under cap rules by trading all of them together for Bryant. Unless you want to lose Lamarcus Aldridge in the deal, there's no way to formulate a Bryant trade that would pass the common sense test.

Someone should be fired from that rag for even printing that person's (and I use that term loosely) name.

Re: Fuck Blazersedge: Discussing if the Blazers should trade for Kobe

Kobe is making $23mill not $30. I would Consider trading for him.

Re: Fuck Blazersedge: Discussing if the Blazers should trade for Kobe

Yuck

Re: Fuck Blazersedge: Discussing if the Blazers should trade for Kobe

Yeah trade him for dame la Matthews and batum and go on a losing streak like lakers.

No. Let lakers eats that fat idiotic contract they gave him and watch them suffer.

Uh, why??? He's washed up.

Re: Fuck Blazersedge: Discussing if the Blazers should trade for Kobe

I wouldn't want K*be for the league minimum.

Re: Fuck Blazersedge: Discussing if the Blazers should trade for Kobe

Wait I read it and they didn't suggest trading for Kobe. In Fact, he said there is no way

Re: Fuck Blazersedge: Discussing if the Blazers should trade for Kobe

Batum + filler like Robinson and Leonard would get it done

99.9% chance Kobe stays with the Lakers. And if he does waive his no-trade clause, it will be to go to NY to reunite with Fisher and Phil.

Is he? I know it's only 5 games in but if you disregard last seasons 6 games played his last 3 years he has averaged...

2014/2015 27.6ppg, 5.2rpg, 2.8apg, 1.6spg
2012/2013 27.3ppg, 5.6rpg, 6apg, 1.4spg
2011/2012 27.9ppg, 5.4rpg, 4.6apg, 1.2spg

All of those are near or better to his career averages.

If we could Swap Batum and bench guys for him and play him at the 3...

Lillard - Matthews - Bryant - Aldridge - Rolo

Yeah I think we would be pretty good team, and if your #1 goal is a title... Not a bad angle to take.

Re: Fuck Blazersedge: Discussing if the Blazers should trade for Kobe

we would have 40 mid-range jumpers a game.

(P.S....what Homer said)

It's intriguing, though. It was more intriguing when KP was hinting at it half a decade ago.

How many shot attempts? Use Brian's coin ratio

At least he would take the shots as opposed to batum

HEY FRACK WHOEVER CHANGED YOUR THREAD TITLE FAMS!

Forget Kome.

After the Bronaliers experiment fails, make that trade for Lebron instead.

Lillard/Wes/Lebron/Aldridge/Rolo would mesh spectacularly, and would be Lebron's best team yet.

Its be fun seeing Kobe miss more shots then LA/Lillard take combined.

Shoot me now if we do this.

I brought this up last year but I think Kobe is everything this team is not and it wouldn't be a good outcome. Kobe is about himself. This team is all for one and one for all. If Kobe was to come that dynamic is broken and I don't believe it leads to better results. Yesterday, Steve Smith and I think Greg Anthony suggested this team is not championship calibler with it's current bench. I agree, They need to get better. But they need to get better with players that fit the system and that won't mind having that similar mind set.

Steve Blake is a Kobe favorite. Maybe he is whispering sweet nothings into kobes ears so the bromance can continue

Only if there was some way to get him for only bench players, no starters. It can't happen financially.
He's a chucker and Laker anyway.

IF he bought into a 6th man role, we would be instant contenders

If it would mean a championship, Welcome to Portland Kobe Bryant and see ya Wes Mathews! You CAN NOT fall in love with players.

Bringing Kobe in now at his stage of his career would be similar to when we brought Pippen in at his stage of his career. There is life there just as there was for Pippen. Kobe would help a team that he would FIT on. A team like New York for example. But I don't think he fit's here.
