I know there are a lot of well traveled and knowledgable posters on this board. Last time I went to Hawaii this place was a wealth of knowledge and gave some great tips on how to do the big island.

This year I am in Southern France. Should have done this earlier as I am down to less than a week, but tips?

I am pretty much doing it tourist style using the Michelin guide as my bible. But any towns to day trip to off the beaten path. St. Remy was the most recent suggested to me that only got 1 star from Michelin that I thought was great and underrated. Others? Places to eat or must do while in Provence area?

NOt much experience in france, but Carcassonne was pretty cool. Its a fort city in southern france, basically a city built inside a castle.

Also the town of Lourdes is intesesting, I was just there. Its where some religious apparation happened and they have a very nice area out there.

Im in Paris now, i cant help you with southern France, but i felt like bragging. The uber shit has me worried for our monday flight. One app Ive been using to navigate is tripomatic. Its been great at helping me find attractions and navigate the area.

As Pres stated Carcassonne is pretty cool. Robin Hood Prince of Thieves was partially filmed there

Outside of Marseille there are some cool places to swim (Calanques) in the Mediterranean. This looks like the place I visited years ago:

Carcassone is much more commercial than it appears in these photos. Lots of souviner shops and what not.

If you like wine, go through Beaune. Burgundy is the mecca of the wine world. Stunning and amazing. Not in the South France, but still....

Great city, its 11pm now with light on the horizon still. We will be in Amsterdamn in a few weeks should be even longer days even then. Im so wrecked from the walking and wine though. Once you get past the sights and settle into the lifestyle its a pretty amazing place. Im not a big fan of the food so far though.

Nice, ill look it up. Doing the Eiffel tower dinner tomorrow, 5 course snooty flouty style. Its probably a tourist trap but i heard its still pretty good.

It is a tourist trap, but come on, we are fucking tourists! You need certain memories to share that you've eating at the Eiffel Tower! Hahaha.

I would highly recommend going to the catacombs and the bohemian village. That village is absolutely wonderful for food, pastries and watching artists paint right in front of you.

My favorite travel advisory would be lonelyplanet.com..they have daily posts by travelers that are great..where the scams are. Great site for current info. Never been there, but I used it all over the far east. Always tried to find a pub near an english school and get tips from teachers who've been there awhile.

I think Provence has some of the most beautiful biking roads I've ever been on. Through fields of lavender, cherry trees and grapevines, stopping along the way at a café or two, and polishing off a bottle of red at the end of the good ride. There are many places you could rent a bike for a day or two, I highly recommend it. It gets you off the beaten path, feels great and is the best way to see the countryside.
