If you replace Ezeli and Meyers with a rookies, its not a bad thing. Layman, Connaughton, and Quarterman shouldnt be reasons to not add young talent, as anyone taken 45th and above will be a better prospect than those 3.Because we're already extremely young, we already have a bunch of project players (Harkless, Vonleh, Layman, etc), and we desperately need some consistent vets who can contribute on a nightly basis.

So unless you're getting great value by trading picks, it makes no sense to not add young talent because were young, or to trade our picks for middling veteran talent that isn't much better than the player we would have drafted.
Ya an athletic wing.So basically we need to draft a tall/lengthy SF with 15.

EASY answer is NO, we need bigs and that is where they are slotted for this draft so we draft a bigSo a SF wing at 15? My question is, do we draft our need at that spot even though there may be better talent in other positions available? Or do we draft best player available and use him in a trade to get what we need?

I got a better idea. Why don't we undraft a big.... I got somebody in mind!
Expansion draft please?
The only way a late round pick is gonna help us become a contender is if we draft a sleeper with that pick who becomes a high level starter. And what is GREAT VALUE for a late round draft pick? They are worth whatever they can bring us to get this core a championship. The thing every NBA fan always says about the Blazers is that they are always young. At some point you have to roll the dice and bet on your current players and go all in. There is no opportune time. The great trades end up getting a player like Buck Williams. The bad trades end up like Afflalo. I hate the "hold the cards" mentality. It's how franchises constantly end up falling short. But if your lucky the window will open and that is the chance you take. Dame and CJ won't waste their primes on a team that doesn't become a contender. They'll demand a trade at some point.
Not at 15. The best pick there will likely be Anunoby, Jackson, or Ferguson.EASY answer is NO, we need bigs and that is where they are slotted for this draft so we draft a big
If we land 2k with the 15th pick I'll freak the F out!!! Man that would be so awesome... Still think he's going to really up his stock at the pre-draft events though, so in my mind it is a pipe dream. Not at 15. The best pick there will likely be Anunoby, Jackson, or Ferguson.
You only use need as a tiebreaker. If you favor one guys talent over anothers. So a SF wing at 15? My question is, do we draft our need at that spot even though there may be better talent in other positions available? Or do we draft best player available and use him in a trade to get what we need?
I guess I'm out of the loop, who's 2K?If we land 2k with the 15th pick I'll freak the F out!!! Man that would be so awesome... Still think he's going to really up his stock at the pre-draft events though, so in my mind it is a pipe dream.
Just googled it and yeah Ferguson would be awesome. He'd allow us to trade Crabbe as he'd be a good spot-up shooter right off the bat.I guess I'm out of the loop, who's 2K?
Plus he's not as one dimensional as Crabbe. He's going to be a dribble drive threat as well. Good length for a wing, high BBall IQ, and a definite team player.Just googled it and yeah Ferguson would be awesome. He'd allow us to trade Crabbe as he'd be a good spot-up shooter right off the bat.
At least one of Allen, Ferguson, Anunoby, or J.Jackson will fall to us, with maybe 2 being available.
It's hard to say you have project players making 8 figures a year. Is there something that Josh Jackson can't do at 1/10th the price about 80% as well as Hark? Is there something that Bam Adebayo can't do for 1/4 on what Noah's making (and I like Noah....don't take this as a diss on him).Because we're already extremely young, we already have a bunch of project players (Harkless, Vonleh, Layman, etc), and we desperately need some consistent vets who can contribute on a nightly basis.
where was Gobert recently drafted? pick 27 I do believeThe only way a late round pick is gonna help us become a contender is if we draft a sleeper with that pick who becomes a high level starter.
You can't trade 26 for a high level starter. The only thing you'll get for that pick is a middling role player, which we already have too many of.
Hopefully, it does indeed happens Monday. Anyway, if you want to evaluate how well we did, the average is
15.5 + 19.5 +24.5 = 59.5 (lower is better)
Strengths: 6’7 high flying and sharp shooting guard … Good size for a wing … Knock down three point shooter. Gets great elevation on his shot and can shoot from NBA range ... Very effective in catch and shoot situations ... Gets his feet set quickly and doesn’t have any wasted motion in his shot … Tremendous one foot leaper … Strong on ball defender ... Very active and shows great commitment to the defensive end ... Takes pride in guarding the opposing team’s best perimeter player … Very good team player ... Highly unselfish, takes smart shots ... Plays within the flow of the offense
