Those stats include people who have insurance. Even people who have insurance in the US are missed. That's the point. Even if you have insurance in the US you get worse outcomes than other first world countries with Universal Healthcare. But again. These shooters, from what I can tell, HAVE access to education and healthcare. You are arguing a different topic. Our system isn’t good enough. But the ones who are lighting up schools don’t fall into the “they don’t have access to help” bucket. They are quite often 1) students getting educated 2) from families with access to healthcare. It doesn’t matter.
well it’s a pretty powerful weapon to hunt Humans, as the last 10 years have showed us.An AR15 is an underpowered hunting rifle... It's less lethal than most hunting rifles sold over the last 50 years.
You're not making much sense.
wrong. These killings appear to have happened with a hand gun. Which is illegal for 18 year olds to own or carry in Texas.

Watched as much of Texas Moron Abbott's press conference as I could stomach. What a steaming pile of shit. Thoughts and prayers, keep the politics out of it. His take is basically that it is a continuing tragedy that just doesn't seem to have an answer, so pray as hard as you can. What a whitewash (Pun intended). God bless Beto O'Rourke for having the courage to call Governor Asshole out in front of a national audience. Then Governor POS had him physically removed, while the big, fat white, crew cut Joe Bubba "law enforcement" officials surrounding Coward Abbott screamed profanities at him. What a fucked up state. Beto O'Rourke is one of the few (if not only) government official who has actually had the courage to say, "we're coming for your guns." I don't have many heroes, but Beto is rocketing up the list......

Listening to this asshole Abbott talk is making my blood boil. He wants to go as far as say he wants to make it tougher for shooters to enter schools by creating only one entrance/exit, while citing that's the only reasonable preventative measure.
So much delusion these days.
No clue what that means...abbott
That's not how it works. By code, school doors cannot be locked from inside. But you can't open then from the outside. You just push the bar from the inside and they open. You would bottleneck the entire school as the students all tried to escape from a shooter using the only entrance/exit. Yes, very delusional.
I probably say this any time he comes up, but I went to high school with him! He gave me a cool behind the scenes tour of the capitol when we visited D.C.
Doesn't seem like Democrats will either...Go Beto. Got to call that shit out. Prayers won't solve anything. Action will.
We can pray all we want that Republicans grow a fucking conscience and vote for actual solutions, but its not going to make it happen.

There is no bottle neck.

It has nothing to do with being locked. The bottle neck is hundreds of people all trying to leave out of 1 door. That's insane. And I imagine also a huge fire safety no no.That's not how it works. This is the grade school where the shooting took place. Multiple buildings. No way to make a single entrance.

If teachers were armed they could shoot the fire.It has nothing to do with being locked. The bottle neck is hundreds of people all trying to leave out of 1 door. That's insane. And I imagine also a huge fire safety no no.
Schools have dozens of doors. They can exit any of them in the case of emergency...It has nothing to do with being locked. The bottle neck is hundreds of people all trying to leave out of 1 door. That's insane. And I imagine also a huge fire safety no no.
Also to think that someone will shoot at a kid but not shoot a lock or door seems a little silly to me. If that is the case then all kids should wear a lock around their neck while at school.
If teachers were armed they could shoot the fire.
Because we have high rates of desperate and ill people seeing other people who have what appears to be everything every day. It's the gini coefficient problem I've mentioned and linked many times. If guns made us safer why aren’t we the safest place in the world?
Polycarbonate is bullet proof and not very expensive.Keeping the doors locked from the outside during school hours is a good measure, pps does it, but yeah there needs to be more. A shooter could just shoot the glass in the door and reach in and open the door. It will impede them, slow them down, allow more time for students to get to safety, inside classrooms and such. Not much time though.
Where are all the shootings at the private schools our wealthy attend then? They are guarded by armed security...Arming teachers will lead to more shootings. A kid could wait till the teacher leaves the classroom and then break into their desk and take their gun. Are the teachers supposed to carry guns on them all day in all the school? Terrible.
More guns is not the answer to gun violence.
No, unfortunately they are playing politics. If they weren't they'd be bringing different suggestions to the table. They are trying. It takes both sides unfortunately.
