Parents had to wait outside the civic center for hours and give DNA so the police could indentify if their children were the ones murdered. Can you imagine having to wait outside for hours, give your DNA and not know if your kid is dead?

Couldn't they just put the parents on camera and let the kids come out when they recognize them? Or ask the kids their name and call the parents on the loudspeaker? Or just call the kids emergency contact number?

I'd be going crazy.

I told my kids to run. If there is ever an active shooter in your school you run out the nearest door or window and don't stop until you are out of sight of the school. Do not stop for anybody. Not your teacher or anybody. You do not hide unless there is no way out.

Call me as soon as you are out of sight of the school and I'll be there to pick you up soon.

I guess they were confirming kids and parents were related before handing them off. Some parents had to wait till early morning to be reunited.

Also, some of the kids shot were possibly only able to be identified by DNA because of injuries.

What if if there are multiple shooters. You don't know if going out a door will lead you right to one.

I'll take that risk. Historically the ones who run survive. It's harder for a stressed out person to focus on a moving target.

Even in the animal kingdom the predators go after the slowest target first to increase their chances of success. It's natural.

The shooter crashed in front of the school and opened fire with his AR-15 as he ran into the school away from the cops, who waited outside and did not follow him in. He ran to a classroom, barricaded the door and shot and killed all the children and teachers in that classroom, before he was later killed by a border agent who did what police would not and ran in and took him out.

The police were cowards. Parents including the father of a girl who was killed in the classroom begged them to go in. They wouldn't. The parents were going to go in themselves before the border agent arrived.

Yeah, so the door lock worked well enough to keep the border patrol out for 40 minutes... So let's make sure our schools have air conditioning and shut the fucking doors please...
 
He posted online about it before he did it. That's a failure that it wasn't caught. That kind of shit needs to be immediately flagged.

Absolutely. Unless it was somehow encrypted it should have been immediately picked up and an alert sent out to schools and buildings in the vicinity.

It's the digital age, this is not difficult to do.

15 minutes before the shooting.

He posted that he was going to shoot his grandma and then that he did and then 15 minutes before the school shooting, he posted that he was going to do it.

Safes don't work then. Because if you kill your parents you can get into any safe... Because who the hell is going to stop you?
