How so?

If you are outside the blackout area, subscribe to NBA League Pass.

Get all the games, not just a few. Sure, it costs more, but you get a TON more value for the money. Not just all Blazers games, but nearly all games for all teams.

I contend the Blazers trying to charge for KGW only games, will be a commercial disaster. They will have virtually no paying customers.

If you are in the blackout area - then you are very likely to already have access to KGW - assuming you can't get or don't want Comcast.

So, for folks who don't want to put an antenna on their roof, or don't have a TV, or don't want to pay for TV service from anyone...

these are the pool of potential customers that the Blazers think are going to PAY to watch a limited and random selection of Blazer games streamed on a computer??

Why?

If a Blazer fan is watching streams on a computer, they will be doing so for ALL games, and doing it for FREE. Once you are in the habit of getting a game for free you will not become a paying customer unless the product has significant value added - see the history of song downloads and iTunes ability to charge for "free" songs.

That is correct. The Blazer Blackout radius includes all of Oregon and Washington and parts of Idaho and Northern California. That's the Blazers' "regional area".

Also, I had an interesting thought: if the Blazers stream their games against Comcast's wishes, can and will Comcast block the broadcast via their broadband service?

That is ridiculous. I don't really have a problem with them blacking it out for people who can get the games by paying for the right service (e.g. Comcast or whatever), but for people who have no choice that's just turning away potential customers.

Anyways, as they said they want all games streamed, not just KGW games (which as mentioned would have an extremely limited customer base, though presuming it's significantly cheaper than league pass might appeal to the out of states Blazer fan who doesn't care about all the other team games). I doubt they'd have started this if they didn't believe they could get all of them.
 
It is sure funny the Blazers can't get Comcast games streamed yet and PA owned cable company doesn't carry CSNW. There is something wrong when Charter (owned by PA) and the Blazers can't even get the rights to broadcast the Blazer games. You would think it would be a no brainer for Charter to pay the money if it was even close to a reasonable amount. Why would PA not want to carry the Blazers now which would help put pressure on everyone to carry them. The answer is that Comcast is trying to charge why more then the going rate. Fuck Comcast!
 
If the games really are going to be streamed, I'll watch them all in San Diego and may skip NBA league pass...

Agreed. If the Blazers do stream the games, they just kicked the chair out from under Comcast.

I DEMAND the right to watch Furness and the clowns on Talkin' Ball. How dare the Blazers make me pay for that?!? If they're streaming the game, why not stream the post-game?!?!
 
nba league pass broadband is finally up. Access to every team for $135 or 7 teams for $90, this is more than last year it was $80 to access all teams if you sign up early. I wish they had an option for just one team for a little less. I don't know if people in the blackout area can get creative and have someone outside of the blackout area sign you up or maybe you can use proxies to get around that issue. good luck!
