I get that @dviss1 is saying the rest of us are experiencing what has been the norm in Black communities. But there is a qualitative difference. The president is using full force of the United States military to occupy cities, not with pretext of "riot" or any emergency but simply to normalize troops marching through our streets. As punishment to cities that voted for Democrats. To establish Trump having right to use army against anyone he wants. To prepare for next election when they will be used to intimidate wrong people from voting.

D, I know the black community has been the backbone and most of the skeleton...hell most of the meat too...of the civil rights movement. This fact does not escape me.

We were headed in the right direction. I thought we were with Obama. But, it showed us there is still a large underbelly of racism in this country when Trump got voted in and then again. You know I'm not one to sit close mouthed when it comes to equality and racism. Unfortunately, it seems there are more conservatives than liberals these days. It's a steep hill to climb. MLK spoke of letting freedom ring on the mountainside, and you know I'm there.

I disagree that there are more racists than there are liberals.

I honestly believe Obama would have absolutely destroyed Trump in any election.

The left has to give people something to vote FOR. They can't count on the right being so bad that people will simply vote against them.

I agree but they might be able to win the midterms with the way things are by putting anyone out there.

They need to focus on the basics. Grocery prices, rising housing costs, health insurance, rising utility costs, gas prices, raising wages etc. Thats what the majority of people care about and can get people out to vote.

Ultimately, they must be a good speaker too.
 
I don't follow country music. I never heard of Zach Bryan. He is apparently huge star in country music. He has a new song with anti ICE lyrics.

Department of Homeland Security trolled him with a video, mind you on an official US government web site. Video shows images of people being rounded up and put in chains. Playing over it is a Bryan song he uses to close every set, a song about a person who knew hard times, prison, but achieved redemption through faith.

Because using a song about redemption while gloating over innocent people being put in chains is just so funny, right?

Agreed. Just can't count on Trump being bad enough to beat your Republican opponent. That's not enough.

ICE in Chicago arrested 53 year old woman who has lived here 30 years wen she went out to get groceries for her family dinner. Worst of the worst.
 
Houston: Missing teen with autism reportedly in ICE custody


The Brief
    • A 15-year-old was reported missing after he was last seen Saturday, Oct. 4.
    • The teen allegedly never returned to help his mother sell fruit after going to a restroom.
    • The boy has reportedly been in ICE custody since Monday.
HOUSTON - A Houston teen who went missing for almost a week tells has had been in ICE custody for days, according to a local organization.



Houston: Missing teen in ICE custody
The backstory:


The teen was reported missing after he was last seen Saturday afternoon near the intersection of Clay Road and Hempstead Road.

FIEL, an immigrant-led civil rights organization, helped the boy's family put out a call for help during a press conference on Friday.

According to the organization, the teen was selling fruit with his mother on Saturday when he asked to go to the restroom. His mom was reportedly busy tending to a customer at the time, and when she turned back around a few minutes later, he was gone.

After trying to find her son, his mom called police.

Hours after the press conference, Houston Police confirmed with FOX 26 that the teen had been found safe and would be reunited with his family.

FOX 26 later learned from FIEL that the teen had been in ICE custody at a Houston-area detention center since Monday. He is reportedly OK, and his family is working to get him out of custody.

Man was wrongfully convicted of a murder he did not commit. Spent 42 years in prison insisting he was innocent. Finally learned prosecution withheld evidence that showed he was not guilty. Conviction overturned.

As soon as he walked out of prison, he was grabbed by ICE. Put back in prison. Facing immediate deportation over drug charge from when he was 19.

Tell me, Republicans. Is this what you voted for?
