I think in general you maybe right. There is always exceptions to the rule though.

I know two people that work at different hospitals. One is on furlough the other is working but not getting paid for it right now. Seems like those would be real jobs to me.

From today's news, I heard a bunch of spoiled tourists whining about how they can't go to the Statue of Liberty.
and some cheesy yuppie couple whining about how they can't get married this weekend at the Lincoln Memorial.

Of those three, the constitution commands the govt. to raise an army, navy, etc.

Even then, the scope/size of what's needed is questionable.

And no, I don't think it's narrow minded. If everyone worked those "real jobs" you claim are "real jobs," there'd be nobody to tax to pay for it all.

That's right, you read my post correctly. I'm arguing that ONLY police officers, fire fighters and military are "real jobs" and EVERYONE should do ONLY those kinds of jobs. /snark

I think it's insulting to members of the armed services that you don't consider military "real jobs".
 
Iirc 80% of federal employees are still on the payroll, that's not much of a shutdown. Chill out Socialists lol.

I consider it service. As in armed "services."

But truthfully? If they furloughed 90% of them, I still don't think most people would notice the government is shut down.

Those 90% should get real jobs, too.

That's disgusting. My uncle died in WWII and I brothers in the military. You enjoy the freedom of this country but you feel the people that bring you it don't have "real jobs".

Don't forget that the cap on your itemized deductions is being reduced as well. So you likely will be allowed to take a smaller deduction of your home mortgage interest, which results in higher taxes paid.

But your statement suggests that somebody else would have done better. Who?
I don't think any of the seven dwarfs would have done better, and some of them would have done much worse.
There weren't any strong candidates because, in part, it was a fools errand - if any smart republicans actually exist, they stayed out of the race because they recognized that Obama was going to win reelection.

He won because the emperor wears no clothes, not because of some mandate. If he had a mandate, it was "don't be Romney."

If he had a mandate, it was actually 'Obamacare is ok'.
But it's pretty silly to claim he only won because he wasn't Romney. Lots of us voted for him rather than against Romney (who from my point of view was by far the best of a very bad lot of Repubs, not that that's high praise).

Oddly, Democrats lost the House and seats in the Senate after passing ObamaCare.
