Yeah, he was quoted saying he was alright with a rebuild since everyone they bring in will be his age range. LA is smart and knows what management is up to. They probably get his feedback constantly on guys and potential deals.

Weren't there quotes from LaMarcus pretty much saying he was alright with a rebuild? I don't remember exactly what they were or where they came from, but from what he can remember he talked about how he's only 26 and guys don't usually enter their prime until they're 28/29, so he's fine with bringing in rookies or young guys that could help the team in the future.

as I posted earlier and Ironcrotch said, the youngest guy we have on the team now is Meyers Leonard who is 20. The rest of the team can legally drink together. So your (LMA) point is spot on

maybe the trade deadline would be a good time, when teams are looking are looking for that elusive missing piece for their playoff run? ...

I'd wait for the season to end. Trade into the top-3 and target Cody Zeller. This guy has the 'it' factor on both ends. His footwork, intangibles and has a super high IQ. Mick can back me up on this one.

I just hope it's a quick rebuild.

building through the draft is never a quick rebuild.

Doesn't Shawn Kemp have like 20 illegitimate kids that will start reaching draft age soon? I bet one of them will be good.

True. But you have a better chance to go through this quickly with a top-3 pick talent.

Zeller will challenge both Shabazz and Noel for the #1 overall pick, too.

are any of them a shoo-inn franchise player in the mold of LeBron, Durant or Rose? If you can't definitively say so, they're likely to become a role player in this league.

and if they are as good as projected, they aren't trading them for Aldridge.

I think so, but in a different way. Zeller has the feel for the game and footwork to be the next McHale.

He looks more like Patrick Ewing's illegitimate kid than Kemp's.

McHale isn't a franchise player. You will need to add one next to him then, so tank and then wait 2 drafts from now if the ping pong balls luck our way?

Jordan has a kid playing college ball somewhere. IIRC, he's stinking it up at some small Florida school.

He looks like Ebert post-surgery. I know Kemp was no looker, but it seems like nobody on either side of the family six generations up the line was anything close to good looking!

McHale was a franchise type of player -- 23+ PPG 8/9 RPG and never had a PER below 20-21 for most of his career.

I think you have to use the early part of this season to see how much talent our youngsters truly have. At the trade deadline if it looks pretty grim, it probably makes sense to trade Aldridge for great picks or good rookies.

I really, really hate the idea of doing what the T-Wolves did with Garnett--squandering the best years of his career in the lottery. In 2005, Garnett was coming off a WCF run, and had a 28 PER. Minnesota could have had their pick of practically anything they wanted for him. That team misses the playoffs and never gets back again.

Aldridge is nowhere as good as Garnett was back then, but he still has a ton of value.

In hindsight, we should have traded guys like Oden, Roy, Sergio, Rudy, Outlaw and Randolph much sooner. It never seems like a great time to sell when the stock is still rising, but sometimes it is and you only see it afterward. That may be happening pretty shortly with Aldridge if our youngsters don't pan out.

What if Lillard is rookie of the year? What if he is that good? What if he can get his own shot and find the open guy? What if is he truly a franchise PG?

What if Barton/E-will are serviceable, healthy? What if one of them stands out as a starter that can get their own shot, relegating Wes to the bench?

What if we actually do use Batum (if we retain him) correctly this year? (I've said forever that Batum is better than his numbers suggest, he is just horribly misused - although I'm not liking his little b!tchfest)

We know aldridge is good.

Freeland? Claver? Meyers? Maybe we find a serviceable starting C.

Lillard/Nolan
Wes/EWill/Barton
Batum/Claver/Babbitt
Aldridge/Freeland
Meyers/?

Honestly, if Lillard is really as good as I think he can be, our team isn't THAT far away. I'm a believer that between E-Will and Barton, we have our starting SG. Maybe not this year, but next year.

Lillard/Barton/Batum/Aldridge/? could very well be our starting lineup in 2 years. Try and get Al Jefferson, possibly.

I'll bet you a beer that doesn't happen.

I'm not much of a gambler, but Lillard does have quite possibly 3 proven starters that played for a a team that challenged the 2011 NBA champs. (LMA, Batum, Wes) if anything that could only inflate his assist numbers and get him more open shots.

He probably won't be ROY, but he has a legitimate shot to be in the top 3 in voting.

Nobody thought Roy was going to be Rookie of the Year either when we drafted him.
