Gaddafi's youngest son killed in NATO airstrike

So is this enough to get him to hang it up and leave Libya or is that crazy fuck going to throw a few million bucks to some terrorists for revenge?

I'm saddened that his grandchildren died, and if his son had nothing to do with anything, that he died too (I know next to nothing about his sons doings, but I'm willing to bet you his grandchildren had nothing to do with anything).

Admittedly, most "modern" Americans would assume it to be an insurmountable task, having no clue where to start.

But there are still some who would feel it personally necessary to go after him, and succeed in taking him out. A man's gotta do what a man's gotta do.

There's very few people who would actually go to Libya and try to start a blood war against a powerful man like that. This isn't Rambo.

not by us, though, so that's gotta make some of you happy! Amirite?! We get the French and Italians to do our light work?

That would be your response if Libya bombed your home and murdered your son and grandchildren?

Oh I'd sponsor a whole hell of a lot of terrorism, I'd just make sure I lived to see it carried out.

from what little there is in the "paper", NATO blew up a command-and-control bunker. If Qaddafi chooses to park his grandkids in a place thinking it won't be targeted, that sucks for them.

Reminds me of when Saddam placed Scud sites next to mosques and elementary schools so that he could use civilian casualties against us in the media. Obviously a lot of people are buying it. It's kind of a genius asymmetric warfare, but it's also cold-blooded.

Wrong. It was the house of his son. If that is a "command and control center", then so be it. NATO just murdered 3 kids who had a grandpa that wasn't even at war with NATO, and if you want to compare it to Iraq, then Bush at least had congressional approval for attacking Saddam's Iraq.

What is going on right now in Libya is sickening, and the only reason the President is being pulled into hearings is because he is a Democrat.

Nato doesn't need congressional approval.

Did you delete my post, Sly? What happened to it?

No, I didn't delete your post and I don't know who did.

And I don't know who deleted mine.

Looks like I've been secretly replaced.

I think you have the power to see who deleted the posts, don't you?

someone deleted an earlier post of mine too (which I responded to Sly's original question of what would happen, and I bold the option I suspected would happen).

Did some mod get drunk and go nuts?

Most of the time I can see who deleted posts but there is a way to do it where I can't.

Seems like if you go to 'edit thread' there is a history there that is useful in cases like this. But maybe I'm misremembering.

You were an admin, I am only Ed O's lowly forum flunky.

PapaG, I saw on CBS this morning and on BBC (where the Deputy PM was talking about it) that it was a shelter being used as a command-and-control bunker. The video they showed depicted lots of rebarred concrete...I don't know about you, but that's something I've only seen used in hardened targets--not innocent residential palaces.

Assuming that it did have a military purpose, does that change how you feel about the kids being killed? Does NATO, in your opinion, have a responsibility to make sure anything they bomb doesn't have kids around it? And if it does, not to bomb it, no matter what the military aspect?
