Game 1: Blazers vs Rockets - Game Thread

We don't need to focus on getting all 18. We need to focus on getting it down to 12, then under 10. After that, it's a ball game.

Yao doesn't have the endurance to continue to play at this level. We need to make him work. As for Brooks, we need to put Bayless on him and post him. Make Adelman pay for keeping him in the game.

I'm so fucking sick of the quitters in here. I guess there's no reason for you to post here until the draft.

I can't "quit" because I'm not doing anything, I"m a spectator, just like you. Calling it like I see it, there's no way we're going to win this series.

The great thing about the NBA playoffs is that one loss doesn't kick you out. You must prove you're a loser by failing FOUR times! We've only failed for a half. We're gonna have to fail a heck of a lot more if we want to be eliminated from these playoffs.

Live your life. There's no reason for you to be in here because you're Nostrafuckingdamus. Bye bye.

P.S. It's clear you've never really competed in your life.

Why? Yao is a superstar, Brandon is largely unknown around the country.

If you want to put your foil hat on and indulge in conspiracy theories, you start to wonder just what David Stern breezed into town for.

He's here to make sure it's called the way he instructed.

Seriously, he's all about the money, and Houston (as long as they have China's only Superstar) is the biggest market in the world.

Yep, even if we ultimately lose this game, we can win in Houston.

Blake played 21 minutes in the first half. Rudy played 9.

And FRYE FUCKING PLAYED 6 minutes. THAT CANNOT HAPPEN.

On a night like this, there are only 3 possible responses: gallows humor, vent your frustration, or sink into despair. I'm going for the first, but I can't blame the people who go for the second.

Anybody else getting the sense that Yao is taking 6 years of not getting out of the first round personally? Oof, I feel like the Blazers have run into a freight train tonight.

Win or lose this is going to be a helluva learning experience.

It is clear that must come together and form a gigantic collective moving mass of people looking like Tonya Harding and do in the Rockets as if they were Nancy Kerrigan.

Let it be done.

PS Joel please please please please please let the team front Yao - thanks.

Remember, Houston had a 14 point lead against Dallas and Yao had 19 points. Houston lost and Yao had two or four points in the second half.

I have faith in this team.

There's a fourth alternative: Don't post. Since Sinobas knows what will happen, the fourth road seems the most appropriate.

Van Gundy said this would be a blowout.

I'm honestly not totally surprised it's going like this.

And I don't mean that in a doom mongering way.

Houston knows what they're doing.

Once the fans and players calm down we'll be fine. Maybe not tonight, but game 2 will be a much different story IMO.

Yep. Game One is a huge learning experience. We'll have three days to mull what happened in the first half and ensure it doesn't happen again.

I still believe we can win this game, however.

Gotta admit I'm re-thinking my four game sweep prediction of Houston.

Still, though, seems appropriate to co-opt Rudy Tomjanovic and say, never underestimate the heart of a quitter. Houston will find a way to lose this series.

If we win this game, it will KILL Houston's spirits just like Houston killed Orlando's spirits in 95. Win this game and we might sweep!
