I see the offensive plan is still just whoever has the ball tries to create something off the dribble, and the defensive strategy is to let the other team get open shots and hope they miss and the ball bounces to one of our guys. Shockingly, adding a couple new role players on the wings has not made this strategy suddenly wonderful.

I had to check. Utah 21 to Portland's 19. The eye test definitely deceives in this situation.

To me the issue is that Utah can defend one on one and Portland can't. There is no defensive scheme that can overcome a team with 4 people who can't defend one on one.
