I know. I grew up a Cubs fan and they FINALLY make it to the Word Series for the first time in my lifetime, but tonight, it's the Blazers game I'm looking forward to and plan to watch form start to finish (although I may check in on the Cubbies during commercials).

It makes me laugh when people say things like, the Blazers "snuck up" on the league or "surprised" the league, or whatever, and the Blazers won't "sneak up on" teams this season. As if what sports talking heads and fans think or say or predict has anything to do with what the actual coaches and players think. As if other teams' coaches and players don't watch film and prepare for the teams they face, and realize they have to be ready to play and compete every single night, against every team. I feel fairly certain that the other coaches and teams weren't looking past the Blazers, especially the last half of the season when the Blazers were kicking ass.
 
I am just tired of the Blazers always not getting recognition. EVERY YEAR. Last year, oh yeah 25 wins. They outdo that and make it to the 2nd round. "WELL THEY DIDN'T HAVE CHRIS PAUL AND BLAKE". So? they were supposed to be a 25 win team to begin with right? they also really competed with GS. Then before this year started almost every part of sports media. "Well the blazers over exceeded expectations but i don't think they get better". Meanwhile a team like Utah who is a good team but hasn't shown much for quite a while. "50 plus win team, 4th seed". Nobody ever counts out the Clippers either despite their roster and failed attempts at getting past the 1st or 2nd round. It's a joke. Dame doesn't get credit, the organization doesn't and the shit gets really tiring. I don't have to be bias to know that this team is better than last years and I think they finish 4th in the west, I see no other team that can compete with them there. For fucks sake, KD left the thunder and people still have the thunder at 5th at the end of the season. It's a joke

Exactly. Once westbrick injures himself by all star break playing hero ball for 40 games that team will probably lose 30 in a row.

Come on guys, religion jokes? That should be over in OT. Though I disagree with what @Saint Cy of JFC said about the teams, he never went down that road, and attacked anyone's faith, political beliefs.....
 
I don't believe tonights game will be available on Vue as it is a KGW game - is that correct?
 
My imagined discussion between the league and the schedule-makers..

"Clash of the Titans - SA vs. GS on opening night!"

"Yeah, PDX vs. Utah. Should be a good one,too. Both teams will be jockeying for playoff position all year!"

"and, and, oh wait. Who's the wiseguy who scheduled NY vs. Cavs on opening night???"

btw, Cavs up by 18 early in the 4th.

Capped out .. Everything went right last year, dream run with health and a team fell over for you to get into the 2nd round. And then you gave Evan Turner 70 million lol I think Tony Allen may finish the year with a better 3 pt %

Portland is a cute team and fun to watch but i just don't see how you're going to get much better if at all over the next couple years. Enjoy the season dudes, looking forward to watching some good contests this season !

I personally don't buy any of that "sneaking" stuff. Pro teams scout and game plan for every team they play. And the Blazers were never terrible....they were mediocre most of the year.

Remember the Blazer jingle they used to play at commercial breaks in the late 80s? It was that country-western type guitar tune.

Hard to say how the Blazers will do. I think we'll finish with the 4th seed. But I can still see a heck of a lot of mediocrity on this roster as well. They really rely on their energy and chemistry.
