I liked the defense from Alpha Ruke Aminu today, too. Guy is active and athletic!

Dame who?

That was fun. And I get the feeling they aren't done.

I said it earlier in the thread, really wanna hammer this point. Harkless and Aminu have ELITE defensive footwork on the perimeter. It's Tony Allen-esque.

I was definitely impressed with Aminu's D. He really knows how to shuffle his feet and close out on guys.

it seemed like to me the current starting unit played well together. Maybe Davis brings more energy off the bench?
Nice bench with Davis, Crabbe Henderson, and Vonleh. And Harkless too.

I bet Mason and Ed will each get about 24 a game over the course of the season.

i started game to watch lillard address the crowd, was going to skip to the end of the fourth that i missed and cant stop watching this first quarter. at 8min left we had 10 points then at 6:28 left we had 20. holy shit.

One tiny thing that bothered me: why didn't Aminu guard Anderson? Pelicans didn't have a PF, we didn't really need both Leonard and plumlee out there. Just an interesting decision. I hope stotts considers an aminu-harkless-Leonard front court against smaller teams.

What the hell guys you didnt tell me the season opener was tonight! Sad I missed it especially seeing CJ's statline. I think going forward CJ is the starter even with Henderson available, he deserves it and has a lot of potential.

Are you serious?

Surely you can't be serious.

That depends? Which part is in question on whether im serious or not, the first sentence or the last sentence?

my fucking internet cut out with about 6min left in the forth, ill have to go back and watch when league pass is done archiving. fucking great win though. CJ isnt just a one trick pony, this dude can ball and create space for his shot like roy did

Yeah, I saw some major Roy moves in CJ's repertoire tonight.

I thought CJ would be great coming off the bench to add an offensive spark and Henderson would start, but I think Henderson's injury has given CJ the chance he needed to take the position, and he has. First I've seen him look really good with that crossover-slide-stepback j from 17, which was his money move at Lehigh. He just has that knack to create space. He got shots over Anthony Davis. I thought when we drafted him he'd be good. I didn't expect this.

Reminds me of one of the HS teams I helped coach. We had five seniors back and they all could have started. We also had two potentially dominant freshman bigs come up together. I thought for their sake it would have been best to start the five seniors at the beginning of the year and then work the younger kids in, maybe starting them by midseason. Two of the seniors got hurt in the preseason and forced us to start the young kids. Best thing that could have happened. The younger guys were right at home from the start, and the older kids, when they came back, could see these kids deserved to play ahead of them. Sometimes things just work out the way they should.

Meyers looks even smoother with the shot and now he's not afraid to ball-fake and drive? I still felt I saw some low post potential in him later in last season, and I hope to see that this year when teams start to try to guard him with smaller, quicker guys. He's turned into a real matchup problem.

Loved Aminu faking the corner 3, driving baseline, popping out and dunking with authority. I liked Batum, but I think I like Aminu's game more. Just a more physical, visible presence. And Harkless looked a lot better more quickly than I expected.

Maybe I shouldn't comment on Dame, because I missed a lot of the first half when he did most of his damage, but what I saw of him in the fourth quarter really concerned me. He missed wide-open shots, and I don't know what was worse, that or his shot selection. He got spiked by Davis the one time. But I worry that guys will get tired of doing the little things if Dame keeps firing up unnecessary shots early in the shot clock. Not saying that will happen, but it's on my mind.

LOL top stories on NBA.com

Griffin scores 33, leads Clippers past Kings

no mention of CJ's 37
NBA Australia ran with CJ as their top story for a while. It's not now though.

McCollum turns into Curry to start season
Blazers guard C.J. McCollum scored 22 points in the first quarter against the Pelicans Wednesday.

Channeling his inner Stephen Curry, Blazers shooting guard C.J. McCollum scored 22 points in the first quarter against the Pelicans on Wednesday.

Curry, the reigning MVP, dropped 24 points on New Orleans in the first quarter Tuesday. McCollum took advantage of the Pelicans' defensive woes against perimeter players by hitting five 3-pointers in the opening quarter.

McCollum, an alumnus of Lehigh University, made sure it was pretty, too.

I'm pretty sure it's the first.. If you are indeed serious, how could you not know about the game?

Told you guys. We are competing for a playoffs spot this year.

I do owe an apology to Mr Davis, tho. Everything i hated about LaMarcooch (and Batum) is upside down with Davis (and Aminu, to some extent).

I'm waiting for Hendo to play bench SG instead of Crabbe, not sure Allen is ready for big minutes yet.

Lillard HAS GOT to stop it with these stupid EXTRA long rage 3s, he is surrounded by shooters and 7 foot guys on his team, no reason to pull that superman shit so early on the clock. I really thought the ball would be safer in CJ's or Fraizer's hands near the end.

Didn't see any of you mention my new Super SloMo camera we got this season!!!!! 300 frames per second!!

I heard Mike & Mike mention the super mo a few times. The footage was nice!
