Let's be clear, this whole mess of a team is on Drury. As Mess wrote the other day, sometimes you need to make some moves to shake things up, even if you are taking a risk. That is spot on as I have also been saying. Drury has no balls at all and is paralyzed by indecisiveness. He is in over his head and has been since the second he got promoted.

Some of you in here consistently want to dance around it, blame this player, blame that player, blame this other player, on and on. The answer is extremely obvious and crystal clear, the core of this team is DONE, and it was a disgrace Drury did nothing except make the team worse, and keep the same old stale core 100% intact, an absolute disgrace. And respectfully, it is ridiculous some of you guys in here act as if that isn't 100% the case, and do not call Drury out for his horrific job. This team is going nowhere, and that was locked in the second Drury decided the right approach was to do nothing this past summer except lose players and bring the full core back 100%.

With that said, while big picture this mess of a team is 100% on Drury, the Zibanejad situation is now an embarrassment for Zibanejad AND Lav. I have a lot of respect for Lav as a coach, but even I am losing it now as he simply refuses to hold Z accountable. For the love of God Lav, please scratch Z for a few games, maybe that will wake him up. Maybe it won't and he is awful now, but at least try it, because this mess from Z cannot continue. He was pathetic tonight all over the ice, mistake after mistake. It is embarrassing for Lav, and he needs to wake up and scratch his a**.
 
Despite their record, they need to shake up the roster a little by the new year. Maybe upgrade the 4th line somewhere and make some decisions on Lindgren, who looks washed up. I think Miller will be here through the year and then they move on from him.
 
Respectfully, tweaking the 4th line and moving some minor pieces around is not the cure for this team. Major changes are needed, as they were needed after the loss to Florida. The Rangers should be looking to make some big moves, that may be risky, but what we have has not and will not work, so take the chance and be bold.
 
Right, I'm just thinking in the short term before the bigger moves in Feb. I don't see them making any huge moves anyhow, maybe adding a Vatrano type for a pick/prospect.
 
This is a LONG way off and a conversation for a day in the future, but IF the Rangers are not a clear-cut legit SC contender, they should be sellers at the trade DL. Why double down on a team that isn't close to good enough. Try recouping some capital, maybe even getting rid of a contract, to set yourself up for some bigger moves next summer.
 
You know though if they're firmly in a playoff spot at the DL they will look to add someone to make one last push, even if they aren't really a legit cup threat.
 
But in the meantime maybe they can improve around the edges a little, then maybe make one move up top at the DL. Who knows, maybe Z will wake up halfway through the year :)
 
I put this on Lav more than Drury, he's just another AV type - play every regular season game like it's the playoffs so your team is spent come post season. The 3rd line was dominant tonight (+2) but Lav gives them 11:30 ice time. Schneider has been terrific defensively this year, +2 tonight but 13:22 ice time while wee Adam Fox gets 25, the poor little fellow will be beaten to a pulp come playoffs. Have to give some credit to Hellebuyck, he made some spectacular saves and benefitted from the Rangers inability to lift the puck.
 
Don't worry, 94 will tell us everything is OK as usual then want us to trade all our picks at the deadline when our core is aging quickly at this point.
 
Agree to disagree on that. Whether it is Gallant or whether it is Lav, same deal. Is any coach perfect on ice time or lines, nope, and like I wrote I am not happy with how he is handling Zibanejad, but the issue with this team is not coaching, and it wasn't under Gallant, even if I wasn't a big fan of his. The issue is the core, and their softness, sloppiness, lack of structure in their own zone, lack of size, lack of playoff type of players. This is a rinse and repeat type situation, regardless of who the head coach has been.

We need to make big changes, it was so obvious after the Florida series, and many said it, but Drury ran away scared. That is the issue, not who the coach is. When you keep recycling coaches with the same results, maybe the coach isn't the issue...

Or the exact opposite, which is what I have been very clearly saying. What I admire about you is your ability to not let facts get in the way of your nonsensical rants. Not sure if you are too lost to realize it, or if it's simply part of your charm, but either way it is impressive. Kudos to you!!

Ugly ugly game. Rangers give up so many high quality scoring chances...it's insane.
The third line better become the first line on Thursday night. They are really the only line that is performing consistently on both ends of the ice. Go ahead and reunite the Trockeck/Panarin/Laf line and Zib/Kreider/Smith but they should be rolling with Chytil/Kakko/Cuylle as their top line.
 
Gone under the radar has been Kreider and his shitty season to date.

14 games, 8 goals, zero assists, but of those 8 goals, 3 are on the PP, 2 shorties and 1 empty net. So in 14 games he has TWO points/goals from 5v5. That is pathetic.

His center has 3 goals and 6 assists. The top center on the team has been abysmal. It’s a miracle the forwards are doing anything.
 
You don’t have to look any further than zibaniturnover 20 minutes and our best forward Chytil 12 minutes. Mancini, who I would say at worst is our 4th best defenseman has sit for 3 straight games watching dogshit Trouba, Lindgren and miller fuck up everything on defense. The problem is 2 fold. We have an over his head GM and a coach that refuses to hold his veterans accountable
 
I’m sorry but the accountable thing is ridiculous. The coach can only play the roster he has to play. You’re not playing lower line guys 20 minutes a night because you think it will make a paint. Coaches are looking after their jobs. It’s up to the GM to give him the tools necessary to win.

For the 100th time this is what you get when you’re hamstrung and can’t turn over anything significant when it comes to the roster. Drury doesn’t seem like he wants to do much more than trot out the same roster that has shown the ECF is their limit.

But yeah let’s kill one of the winningest coaches in history who has a cup and took two others to the finals. A new coach every two years is the answer.
 
I think if you look at it through the prism of 'which line seems to be playing better hockey' it would make perfect sense to increase the ice-time for Chytil, Kakko and Cuylle and reduce for Zibanejad and whoever he is lined up with.
I would also say don't let their record fool you....yes, they are off to a good start in the standings but they rarely look great during the games...even in the ones they win. They have benefited by having fantastic goalies who are capable of making miraculous saves.

Laviolette is not doing it because he's been fired multiple times and he's afraid of rat veterans like pussy Mika going to Drury and backstabbing him. You can't coach like that. Last time the Rangers won a cup they had a coach who held everybody accountable to the point of madness in Keenan. A couple times he went too far but he didn't tolerate incompetence. You're moronic philosophy of not holding people accountable is school teacher fuck up 101. Let kids get away with something and they will never stop doing it. They will do it over and over and over again. Athletes like to pretend they are adults but they are little kids. They must be punished when they fuck up doing the same shit over and over again. Why have Mika and Miller been fucking up for over 2 years? Never held accountable for it. Why does Kreider go game after game never hitting anybody? Never held accountable for it. It's not rocket science. When coaches fuck up over and over again they must be punished like little children by the GM. Why does dumbass Laviolette keep putting Zibanejad on the first PP unit over Lafreniere? Not held accountable by Drury. Why are Mika and Miller never benched or scratched? Coach not held accountable by Drury. Stinks from the head down. This organization stinks. Thus one cup in over 85 years.
 
If you don’t make any changes to the roster the results will be the same. It’s common sense. Some of us have said the roster is weaker so what do you expect. If it wasn’t for their goaltending they would be .500 or below right now.
 
It's one thing to change the roster. It's another thing to bitch slap your dumbass players with talent when they keep making the same fucking mistakes over and over again. You can't improve the roster if the shitheads playing on it don't have trade value because your coach is a pussy and won't hold them accountable so they play better.
 
These guys across all sports make so much money that doesn’t matter most of the time. That and the no trade clauses everyone gets. You want to shake things up? Make some trades and have guys worry about gains to go play in another corner of the country.
 
You forget a coaches mandate is to win games. They will do what they feel gives them the best chance to do so. Firing coaches every two years but keeping the same roster isn’t a successful formula. What changed with this team where you say oh yeah they can beat Florida in a playoff series now? Miller I would’ve explored a trade. Zibanajad I would explore a trade.
 
No, you forget that you won't win games if your talented players are fuckups because they are allowed to fuck up by your pussy coach. If Zibanedouche and Miller had little talent and no ability to play consistently good hockey to help a team win, nobody would give a shit about them being held accountable. Blame the GM for the roster. That is not the case. They have a lot of talent but they are dumbasses who are allowed to be dumbasses because the coach is a fucking pansy. The fact that Zibanedouche is still on the first PP unit over Lafreniere is a joke. Makes us an embarrassment around the league.

All spot on. It is asinine to blame yet ANOTHER coach with this roster. Some of you guys need to wake up on this one. It's like a rite of passage with some of you to blame the coach, and call for his firing every two years or sooner. At some point you need to wake up and realize it isn't the COACHES (plural) it's the in over his head man putting the team together/keeping the same stale core together who have proven they cannot get it done. Stop with the lazy and easy "it's the coach" BS. You all have said that coach after coach after coach, and enough is enough.

Let me also be clear on this, NO COACH makes every right decision. I agree Lav's handling of Zibanejad, and some of the vets, and not playing Mancini is not the right move, BUT as Mess said this is the team he has, and no matter what the team isn't good enough, that's the bottom line. Multiple things can be true, Lav should hold Zibanejad accountable and scratch him to try and wake him up, and play Chytil more, and play Mancini, I agree. But all of that isn't why this team is what they are, that's due to a team that isn't good enough, has proven over and over again it isn't good enough, and is stale as can be.

Thank your in over his head Pres/GM for all of it, and that is what matters at days end. Drury decided no changes, and now no matter what Lav does, the team is going nowhere.
 
Bottom line is Zibanejad and Miller need to man up. Something must be going on with Z off the ice as there's no way his play could've fallen off over just two years. Miller had the depression issue but I'd think he should be past that now.
