im not making too much of it. they had a coaching fire bump. apparently held their first practice yesterday. lotta energy in their building tonight.

7-3 in our previous ten before tonight, and off a 4 game win streak.

defense at home is nothing like in yrs past.

didn't we just come back from down 20 against the 2nd best team in the east like 7 days ago? nurk is finishing much better of late. dame is finding his shot.

chauncey needs to get better managing minutes. especially on a b2b, but at least he acknowledges his shortcomings. im still encouraged.

we desperately need size.

Yeah, we are trading CJ for a good starting forward away from being a really decent team. We also just need the team to stop being in their heads so much about road games versus home games and just play the game. If this is our roster after the trade deadline or even if this is our starting back court, then we'll lose in the first round badly or maybe even lose in the play-in. If we make the right move(s) then we can be more competitive when we make the playoffs.

nurk feasted when they were trapping dame in the first half.

sac went away from trapping and let mitchell/harkless guard dame 1 on 1. nurk's advantage went away.

but i generally agree. he shoulda had more shots than cj

This might be the healthiest we've ever been for a 20 game stretch, we're full of experienced guys, 3 starters who have played together for years, and we're losing road games like we're some young team. If your defense can't travel, it's not real. This group should be well above .500

Crazy, I was thinking the exact opposite. This game is exactly what I'd want going into a road trip where you are trying to turn the corner. Ride the momentum from the home streak, Dame is firing again.. This is the road trip we really need to build a team identity.

It was a quiet second half from Dame but the dude still knows how to impact the game. It was a loud and disastrous game from CJ. He was forcing shit, he was getting blown by, he had the two big turnovers (dragging his foot to get that travel and not inbounding the ball), and having the most shots on the team when he was shooting the ball the worst on the team... he was just terrible tonight. Great game from Nurk but as a team we don't play winning ball on the road. They have to pick themselves up from this huge loss and pull off an upset in one of the next two games.

CJ was terrible for sure. BBIQ in single digits tonight

Dame's 2nd half shot selection was bad. Yeah, he did other things, but he could have driven a lot more in the 2nd half than chucking three's. The Kings were in the penalty for more than half of the 3rd and 4th Q's. If Billups can not figure out how to consistently get Dame more catch & shoot, spot-up, and back cut opportunities, then he needs to completely shit-can this 'play-Dame-off-the-ball' junk. It's not doing anything positive; not for Dame and not for the team. And I think it leaves Dame feeling like he needs to force the action when he does get the ball, usually with only half of the shot clock left

The Warriors go into the 4th in a tight game tied with 10 mins left and end up winning by 20.
That is the difference right now between the Blazers and a contender.
Blazers have some improvements to make. Both to their play and their roster.

No seriously, it has to be CJ. Having CJ and Dame start in the back court together is horrendous defensively. You have to get rid of CJ, it's weird for a nice guy to be called this but he's a cancer. He doesn't see his flaws, he presses when he shouldn't, he calls halfass effort full effort and he has the support of everyone around him. Let him go someplace where people are going to call out his bullshit and demand more of him. Get him the fuck off of our team!

I didn’t even watch the game today, but sounds like a typical selfish CJ game. Like I’ve said, trading CJ at this point would be addition by subtraction. This guy is so damn selfish and just doesn’t understand NBA basketball. Anything they get for him in a trade would be an upgrade/bonus.

I would not call him a cancer. That's too harsh

however, Olshey's total blind commitment to CJ as Portland's starting SG has been the 7 year roadblock to any chances Portland has had to be a contender

You're right. Nurk, Norm and Dame getting CJ's touches and shots, along with Nas or Larry starting for him would improve the team. That being said, CJ is a terrific scorer and a good passer when he wants to be, so we should be able to get a good player in return for him. Again though, if we can only get expiring contracts and/or solid role players for CJ, we would be much much better off.
