I've said for years CJ is a natural 6 man...he's a young Jason Terry....guy who should come off the bench and score in bunches against bench 2 guards....I still think that's his calling...to be the next Jamal Crawford, Jason Terry type 6 man of the year .....he has to wear himself out guarding starting caliber 2 guards as it is...I'd love some length at the 2 guard with the starters....I'd start Pat Connaughton at the 2 with Chief at the 3 ...bring CJ, Mo, Ed, Bazz off the bench...let Dame and CJ play together coming out of half time
CJ is better than that. He's a top 5 SG in the NBA. He's a starter.

Yes, bad calls happen. IT'S NOT THE REASON WE LOST
I complained about the calls in the game, especially anything favoring Giannis. But, I did say that the Blazers deserved the loss. It's ok to complain about calls if you understand that your team also made a lot of mistakes. Bones falls in the same category. Ease off the high horse.

Blazers are going to continue to be exposed for the crap team they are as the season goes on. So far, we've only been able to beat bad teams (and barely at that). Just think of how few quality teams we've actually played. They had the easiest scheduled in the league, so far and that's going to reverse.

Nurk was great, he wants that max contract and I like his passion
he coud have more than 25 pts, if we werent that awful

they literally had no answer for him

These next 3 games are going to be very telling. Are we a 5th seed team? Or a lottery team in disguise?

Definitely a shit call. That is as clean of a block as is possible.

I guess they called it because their forearms connected. Which they did.

But I agree: it was still a bullshit call. That kind of contact just happens when making a great play. That's just part of the game. As long as it's not excessive, they shouldn't call a foul.

Lol the refs allways help traveltokounmpo. He allways get's away with bullshit calls

Not sure I saw a post saying we lost because of the refs. Way to put words on peoples posts.
People are allowed to think the refs did poorly and still know it's not the reason why Portland lost.
Did I say someone said that in my post? LOL. Ironically it is you putting words in peoples posts

You guys chill. I think the bucks just have our number. It’s just a bad match up

I wish we went to Nurk more. He was hyped to go to start the game had like 11 quick points and we kept going to Dame/CJ against longer defenders the rest of the game.

Just poor decision making all over.

100%. Also need to post up Vonleh a few times a game.

CJ is not a 6th man, he is a starter at pretty much all but 3-4 NBA teams. There are maybe three shooting guards who are clearly better than him in the league, Harden, Butler and Thompson, and a few who might be as good as him at their best - like DeRozan or Beal.

He is however not a great fit next to Dame. They are very hard to defend when they are on fire but they are also too similar. He would be absolutely perfect at 76ers next to Simmons.

Bucks with their size and Giannis are a terrible matchup for this team and it shows, we lost all 4 games against them over the last two seasons (although last night was the first time it wasn't even close I think, was definitely tight earlier this season and at Moda last year but I have no recollection of the game in Milwaukee last year).

When the Blazers were good, they always were described as having length.

One of the exact reasons I struggle with both Dame and CJ. We are at a mismatch on so many nights even when they are scoring efficiently. Since that doesn't happen that often, it puts us in a hole. Add to that, the length we do have at SF/PF aren't scoring options or at least they aren't in this offense that is designed around Dame/CJ with rolls from Nurk until he gets hot and then one of the guards decides they have to get theirs and won't pass him the ball anymore.

Last night was a great example of team defensive ratings being suspect. Not sure where MIL is on that list but Portland has been 2nd in some of them. And yet who would take Portland's defense over the Bucks?

Im not bothered by losing to MIL, they certainly arent one of the best teams in the NBA, but certainly are terrible matchup for us
of course, theyre not unbeatable, but its really, really tough for us to win against them cause of their length

hell, they beat us in Portland last season too (with Nurk), without Bledsoe

length is their advantage, but last night they played great game and when you combine those two things against POR...

You're also saying we should play him less
wtf? nowhere did I say this and defending bench 2's is not like defending starting 2's but I've said all along....it's where I think he is best...scoring in bunches...my take....nowhere do I say to reduce his minutes...my idea is to not dig a first half hole against good teams. I'm pretty much alone in this line of thinking...I've felt that way since we signed him. I'd like to see Noah get more of his touches early in games...the ball sticks with CJ too much in my view ..CJ is a great player...ask Kevin McHale how important a 6 man is to a championship team...don't care to argue about it...it's just my opinion...I also think this gets Dame going earlier in games

Going back through this thread, and I know THAT was a mistake, now, I see a lot of whiny bitching about the refs. So to ease your soccer mom feelings, Milwaukee was called for more fouls than us, 20 - 14. They also shot fewer FT's than we did at 15 - 17. Next excuse, please

Drives me nuts

erasing a momentum changing block in the middle of a run that could have turned the game around....yeah...soccer mom complaint......it's not how many calls, it's the timing of that call that can change a game.

Giannis can have a big game, and we can still win. We just need to make sure no one else goes off on us. Middleton's length will be a problem for Pat and Bledsoe seems to be a tough match up for Dame.

Getting Aminu back will help against Middleton and Dame needs to continue to put in the effort on defense. Bledsoe, due to his strength and athleticism, has give Dame fits in the past. Tonight will be a litmus test for Dame's improved defense.

BNM

Nice call. You nailed it.
