That was all sounding so good....until the "stringent on his rotations" comment. I will hope as well. As someone else mentioned, with Aminu back, hopefully it is Vonleh, Aminu and no one else on The GF. Someone is going to have to slow down Middleton as he got off to a hot start last time.

What was wrong with this comment? Stotts is rigid when it comes to his rotations. Fact.

I expect to see a lot of Turner on Middleton tonight. Last time around he was guarding Giannis most of the game and I didn’t like that matchup, despite Turner being our most consistent defender. I actually like Vonleh on Giannis. Even more than Aminu. Giannis is more explosive than both of them, but Vonleh has the strength to force Giannis into taking jump shots. Look what he did against Porzingis, made almost every shot he took difficult.

Harkless shouldn’t even be in the rotation with Aminu back. I think we’ll see the three guard lineup with Napier tonight. Bucks go small in their second unit with Teletovic injured. The three guards with Aminu and Davis in support sounds pretty good.

Blazers vs Bucks

The Freak went nuts the last game. There was plenty of blame to go around. Harkless and Aminu had no chance. But then there is no shame as not many do. He is truly an All-Star without question. Best you can hope for it to keep him around his averages.

Blazers actually played a fairly solid game winning 3 of 4 quarters but dropping the second by 7 points ended up the deciding factor. It was a game they had a chance to get in the end but fell short after Lillard made a three but CJ lost control and the Freak ended up with a steal. Lillard had to foul and then Blazers lost the ball again when Nurk seemed to get fouled but no call. On their court and with a chance to win the Blazers really had little to hang their heads about.

The trade the Bucks made sending Monroe to Phoenix for Bledsoe improves the Bucks but should have little effect in the paint as Monroe played only 6 mins in the first game and did not score. Blazers were without Vonleh and weighed heavily on starters in that game. The rotations will be quite a bit different tonight. You will see Noah on Giannis Antetokounmpo and that alone should be fun to watch. I hope you all give me credit for spelling that name out once. I also hope Vonleh gets pumped up to play this game. the combination of him and Aminu can make a huge difference for the Blazers tonight.

The Bucks backcourt of Bledsoe/Payton can be lethal. Bledsoe has had a history of playing well against the Blazers but a lot of that was before Nurk in the middle and before the Blazers new found commitment to defense. Lillard and CJ have their work cut out for them also tonight. The thing is the Blazers have moved up a notch on overall defensive rating sitting at #2 with a 99.3 rating. The Bucks are at #18 with a 105.8 rating. Where the Bucks seem to suffer is in the Rebounding department where the Blazers excel. Adding Aminu for a couple shifts off the bench will not hurt the Blazers in this department at all.

Last game Jason Kidd started Thon Maker against Nurkic but ended up going more with John Hensen. Recently this is another change as Hensen is listed as starter. Nurkic has an advantage against both and Davis will also be stronger in the middle. I've said this before but we cannot under value what Davis is bringing to the team this year.

Dellavedova is doubtful for tonight's game. He always seems to bring a good game also. I give the Blazers some advantage also in the second unit now that both Aminu and Harkless are on the bench with Napier coming in to work. The Blazers are starting to get a "Deep" look if they can continue to develop players and get some growth.

I am looking for a win if the Blazers can make good shots and play solid defense. This is a game they can lose though if they go through extended scoring droughts. I also hope they are not playing from behind at the end. Get a lead and hold it is much better against Kidd and the Bucks.

One last note. You might see some Meyers Leonard tonight. He sets good screens and his size might come in handy. He has played some good games this year and this is the type of team he gets minutes against.

Go Blazers!

Kjironman is a fan!!!

This is going to be a fun game! The Blazers can't underestimate the Bucks now with Bledsoe to compliment Antetokoumnpo. The Blazerd have to come with some D tonight...attack the paint...don't rely on the refs to blow whistles...high percentage shots...don't be afraid to make that extra pass, but don't too loose.

This feels like a statement game. Not sure if it means more than any other single game on the schedule... but it feels like it. Go Blazers:smiley-istra:

Yeah. A crack your knuckles game. A Dirty Harry look em in the eyes game. A "For 50 bucks I will fulfill your darkest sadistic release behind that dumpster" type of game....

Am I the only one that sees a young Ben Wallace in Vonleh??? His arms are massive, elite rebounder and becoming better defensively by day... he is just a little confidence away from being a real nice player IMO

Maybe skill set wise, but Wallace played MAD like all the time. That's part of the reason he was so damn good. He wasn't drafted and carried a major chip on his shoulder. Vonleh, the last couple of games has been balling, but I don't know if he could carry that "seek and destroy" mentality against everybody he matched up against. It would be awesome to see though.

Wallace wasn’t great til about 26-27 years old... Vonleh has shown flashes of a mean streak... is only 22, still developing

Vonleh is more Dennis Rodman. Defensively versatile, can guard almost anyone, a beast on the boards, but not the rim protector that Wallace was.

I think 5th or 6th seed is reasonable right now. Not sure we'll make it past the first round though. Not that it matters.....we have no hope of beating either Houston or GS.

One game at a time though. Go Blazers. Time for a little revenge. I hope Nurk drops 30 on their asses.

Seriously? I was agreeing with you and poking fun at Stotts for his rigid substitutions...which I was agreeing with so it all sounded good until mention of that because Stotts is rigid. Damn, this board is so full of people trying to jump on anything they see that people don't even get it when you agree with what they are saying and 'like' it as happened with your post.
