I don't define a good game based on a stat line. Nurk sucked.

You're welcome to your opinion but at the same time I sure as hell don't define sucked by your definition of sucked. You can ignore the stats all you want. I will concede he can play better but I have seen enough shitty Blazer centers to know he didn't suck.

Fine - he didn't suck, but he wasn't good either.

Nurk played so well last year we have these super high expectations for him. At his worst, he seems a lot better C than anyone we've had in years.

This is exactly the point. I had Nurk fever too but in reality his worst games are usually better than a lot of our past centers (and a lot of other centers in the league's) best games.

We got manhandled and I was impressed with their hustle. They're gonna be a rare overachieving team in the East.
Imagine if they had Jabari Parker healthy as well. It’s a good team. I just think they give everybody problems. The game was there for us to take, mistakes were just made

Here's my take a few less sloppy plays at the end and each quarter and we had that game! I didn't read the above posts so if this is repeated my bad!

I haven't watched the bucks much, but man this was an awesome game to watch as a basketball fan. This was a needed loss early now is a test of how to overcome adversity. Learn from the mistakes and move forwards.

It looked to me like we played a different style of basketball since the previous games. I saw lots of rushed shots when we got the ball.

I felt what was missing is playing like a 90s Rocket team. Throw down low and dish out. A more eat the clock slower pace should have done it.

Anyway, I'm excited for the next game!

I think he needs to get the hang of how to play minus the 35 lbs he lost over the summer. He's going to be fine.

He may be pressing a bit, too. He's playing for the big contract.

At his best, he's clearly a key player for us and the key to winning a lot of games.

I think we're 2-1 on the road, and it's going to be a really fun season.

OK fair enough but that should be a little encouraging knowing that there is room to improve. Admit it, you were surprised when you saw his stays for the game. I know I was because I thought he could have played better at times.

Wrong century. The game has changed. Sure I will take more in the paint. But we were up in the last minute. The game came down to one play. The call did not go in our favor. It happens. But how many games does GS win in the paint? Not as many as they win
I really don't know how many times GS win in the paint due I don't follow there stat line. But buck shot in the 30 outside the paint and over 50 percent inside paint. I think someone wrote the only took 4 shots in the 2nd from the 3 line guess where else they was scoring inside the paint and the free throw line. Where was they getting foul out inside the paint.

Lowkey, CJ for Middleton+Parker would be such an interesting trade. I'm not asking for it in any way, but I'd sure like to see what the teams would play like in an alternate reality. Honestly think it would improve both teams.

His play. Did you watch the game? Did you think he played well?

I agree with you to a point. For me, what struck me as shocking was that he had NO help in the paint. None. It was him against three Forward-sized players, including one of the best PFs this league has seen in a long time.

That's startling. I hold Stotts responsible for that.

What are you talking about?

You asked why one stat mattered, and the other didn't. Because we got outscored by 30 points in the paint. Not on the outside.

If Parker were playing, they'd have the greek playing PG. Perhaps. Their length at that point is even more impressive.

In the paint points mean you're manhandled, your exterior defense was porous, and if you're not fouling guys out then you're giving up REALLY easy baskets. Even better points per shot than the 3pt shots.

His stat line was certainly surprising. And that's precisely why I can't base my opinion off a stat line when I had visual evidence that told me he played quite poorly.
He just needs to slow down and make better decisions and he'll be fine.

Game Thoughts:
- Blazers played their C+ game tonight in Milwaukee, on the road, and on the second night of a back to back and had a chance to win it. Just let that sink in. Oh and they did all of that when the opponent had a career night.
- Speaking of Giannis, dude feels like he's the next unstoppable force in the league
- Like last year against the Bucks, Stotts refused to double Giannis, We got destroyed in the paint and had no answer for him on the defensive end. I know Middleton, Teletovic, and Snell shot it well tonight, but at a certain point, let's roll the dice on of them making a shot in the clutch.
- Snell went 7-8 from the field and Teletovic went 3-4 from downtown ... if Freak gets role player production like that, the Bucks are unbeatable
- We completely went away from Nurk down low until late in the 4thQ ... While he was just 7-17 from the field, it was still an advantage against Maker, Monroe, and Henson.
- With that said, big fella needs to get some go-to moves down low and learn to pump fake ... Giannis would have fouled him easily had he pump faked instead of going right at the rim on that play late in the game.
- It's great that ET and Pat are off to a good start, but sometimes we need Dame and CJ to be more selfish. Tonight was that kind of night. They shot nearly 50% from the field and combined for 52 points despite the insane length of the Bucks. Had we ran more offense through both players, we likely win.
- I'm at a loss at what to do with Chief ... He's easily our best defender but I cringe every single time he touches the ball on offense. I just don't think he's a starter on a Top 4 seed in the West.
- Pat missed his last two 3's and then shied away from shooting on offense after that ... on play in particular in the 3rd Q he had a wide open floater and instead of taking it, he forced a pass cross court that got stolen. It's important that he maintains a gunslinger mentality off the bench.
- One reason I wanted to keep Morrow was to space the floor ... the Bucks gambled all night long on everyone but Dame and CJ beating them. It's nothing new, but I'd expect the better teams to continue that strategy.
- Last but not least, CJ was hacked and we should be 3-0.

Imagine if they had Jabari Parker healthy as well. It’s a good team. I just think they give everybody problems. The game was there for us to take, mistakes were just made
Yep, they'd be a real threat in the east with Parker. For one superstar and a bunch of relative unknowns, they've got a lot of dog in that team.

Anyone know who won ROY last year?

You asked why one stat mattered, and the other didn't. Because we got outscored by 30 points in the paint. Not on the outside.

But my question is why is paint scoring more important than non paint scoring. Point are points. The world champs proved that. We scored enough points to win. They just happened to score a few more.......on their home floor.

....and? That's why they won.

You're answering your own question here. One stat matters because we got outscored there by 30 points.

I mean, shit....there's no winning a game there when you don't answer back somewhere else to make up for it. Which we didn't.
