A sweep would be so sweet. I would think if the Canes have any pride they find a way to win a game.
 
Chytil out again no comment on what but I’m sure we can use our imagination
 
Chytil out for brodshitski instead of Rempe which I don’t like. Unfortunately, sounds like he took one hit too many
 
After game 2 and Rempe playing 4 minutes in a 2 OT game, it may be doubtful he plays soon unless he's forced to play due to injury. As for Chytil, it's a shame for him and the team because he raises our upside potential another level IMO. As unlikely as it seems, especially since he woke up not feeling well after being fine yesterday, let's hope it isn't concussion symptoms, and it is a stomach bug or something like that. I'd love for him to be healthy and playing moving forward. Sure we'll find out this week, and by Monday if the Canes win tonight. Cuylle will be back on the 3rd line tonight.


Chytil was absent for Saturday's morning skate at PNC Arena in advance of Game 4, which is set to begin just after 7 p.m. The team announced it as an illness, with head coach Peter Laviolette calling him "a game-time decision."

"He felt great (Friday), went to the team meal," Laviolette noted. "Woke up this morning and didn’t feel well."

The fear, of course, is that the illness could be related to the injury that kept him out for over six months. Laviolette did not answer directly when asked about that possibility, which, fair or not, will lead to further speculation among fans.

There is an understandable sense of high alert surrounding Chytil, who has a history of concussions that have seemingly made him more susceptible to future occurrences.

The hope is that he's experiencing a common cold, stomach bug or other kind of standard ailment. But there are certain symptoms associated with head injuries that could be interpreted as illness, such as headaches, nausea or sensitivity to light.

I tend to agree the Canes should win this game given the circumstances. I think it will go one of two ways, the Canes are fired up and emotional to keep their season alive, or they are flat as a pancake believing it is really over and they aren't coming back from 3-0 down, I don't think it will be in between. According to Brind's post-game press conference, he said the team was very down in the locker room. Either way the Rangers need to play their game. I'd love to finish it tonight and give them no life, but we may see a game 5 Monday night with a chance to wrap it at home.

One thing I would like to see the Rangers do a bit better is win FO's, the Canes won 61% of the FO's in game 3 after winning 53% of the FO's in each of the first two games. We need to do better there.
 
I’d MUCH rather Rempe over Brodzinski, especially because if we are up 2-3 goals, you know Tiny Dick’Angelo is going to start shit and it would be nice to have Rempe just pummel him or anyone else into the ice and break the unwritten rules and keep pounding away. Brodzinski doesn’t do anything well enough to be in over Rempe honestly. He’s a better skater, but I trust him less in a forecheck and MUCH less backchecking and in the d-zone.
 
I would tend to agree I prefer Rempe over Brod as I just don't think Brod adds much value, but I don't think the 12th forward is a huge issue.

I am very curious to see the start of the game, where the energy lies, and the mindset and emotion of both teams. Will the Canes come out flying again with emotion, will the Rangers be a little complacent with a 3-0 lead, will the Canes be deflated being down 3-0. The fist 8-10 minutes should tell us something.
 
Rempe is no longer useful unless it's a payback situation. His line has no puck control when he plays on it. When he picks up a step on his skating, gets better with board work, balance and hockey IQ, he can play in the playoffs vs. skilled, speed teams. If you notice, for his size he is easily knocked down. He needs to work a ton on his leg strength and balance.
 
Sounds like the Canes are going back to Andersen in goal. I also wondered if maybe DeAngelo would be scratched, but sounds like he will be in.

But do you really think Brod is the way to go? Honestly, if Chytil isn’t good to go and you aren’t playing Rempe, I’d prefer going with 7 dmen and playing Jones over Brod.
 
Brodzinsky plays really well when he is scratched and comes back. When he plays a few games in a row he doesn't play like he's about to be sent to the minors. I think he'll play great tonight.

I hope so. I just don’t trust D’Angelo to not try something stupid if/when Carolina is losing and the end is near. He’s a scumbag and would 100% make a run at someone important.
 
I know it doesn't really matter, but Carolina has been favored in every single game in this series, including tonight where they are again a pretty big favorite like they were in game 3. They were favored in the series until the Rangers won game 2. I find it very funny.

The whole narrative is laughable.

1. It is 7-6 Carolina at even strength, which is just about even. The only domination has been on special teams where we have outscored them 5-0 thus far.
2. Last I checked special teams is a big part of hockey, so you cannot just act as if those don't count, so Carolina has been better. That was sort of what Brind was implying after game 3 as well.
3. Carolina is the "experts" darlings. They love their metrics and analytics; it is why they have been the favorite to win the Cup last year and this year.
4. What the analytics miss, and why it is lazy from the "experts" to put all their eggs in that basket, is special teams play, and control of the puck and a lot of shots doesn't equal high quality shots and good scoring chances. It is typical laziness by the hockey media to use that as their driver for over-the-top Canes love. They should be part of the equation, not all that matters.
5. I am also tired of hearing they have all been one goal games - newsflash, that is playoff hockey, most games are very close. This isn't the NBA where teams blow teams out regularly. In their last 8 playoff L's, the Canes have lost all by one goal, 5 if which were in OT. Again, that is playoff hockey.
6. I am not worried about shots on goal, I am more focused on quality chances, yes, the Canes will have 100 shots on goal, that is their game.
7. We have a great goalie, and he's playing great. When Gretzky or Lemieux or Messier were great did people say, oh you are relying on them too much, nope. Igor is great, and he is part of the team and doing what he does as a great goalie.

This lack of respect the Rangers have gotten does bother me only in the sense that it is so misguided. Once again, the Canes favored tonight like I wrote above. Think about that, how many teams down 3-0 in a series are still favored to win game 4, I would say very very rare. Doesn't mean the Canes won't win, I think they may, but it is still a bit much that they have been favored in every single game. I hope folks have made some $$$ off that.

Brodzinski already a -1 lmao. Can’t make this stuff up. I know it’s not his fault but still.
 
Bad gap control by Trouba there but he either had to back up to keep Kuznetsov in front of him or step up and have him skate around him.
 
Welp, I NEVER want to see Brodzinski in a Rangers jersey again. We would’ve been better off with 7 dmen like I said. Jones in could’ve relieved how much we had to see Trouba sucking out there also.
 
Could be one of those games. Terrible turnover by Goodrow on the first goal, fail to clear on the second goal. This might be a last stand for the Canes, and we'll have to play a big game Monday night back at home to ensure this doesn't become a dangerous situation.

I am not going to get worked up by tonight, no reasonable person expected a sweep. We need to handle our business in game 5 and we'll be fine. If the Canes win game 5, then I'll get concerned.

I blame you for your terrible prediction hahaha. Still don’t want Brodzinski out there ever again. I’d rather Rempe get 5 minutes but throw his body around during those 5 minutes than see Brodzinski floundering around out there
