He completely disappears for huge stretches during the season so his lack of desire and results in the playoffs doesn't surprise me. Jagr at his current age would be better to have out there.
 
I literally just wrote I get it because we don't really ever win Mess. So I do get it. But by the same token we can only take it one game at a time and one series at a time. And in this series we have home ice still. We have out played them overall. We are clearly better than the Flyers. And all we have done is what we always do...get beat in a game where we had a chance to open up a 2 game lead.

BIGGER PICTURE this shows why we cannot win a cup this season and clearly have work to do to get over that hump. That point is dead on and VERY fair.
 
I'm not going to focus on previous teams failures over the past 20 years to get down on this team. Not yet anyway. They can still win this series in 6 (even though Chuck and I know it's going 7). I get why you are frustrated but let's at least see how this series plays out.

Nash is soft, too nice, and floats. The CBJ game showed us that 100%. Shocker...he wanted that game badly, had a ton of emotion and passion, played hard, and was a monster.

He just doesn't do that every night. Huge knock on him. That 7.8 mill cap hit is tough fo a player like Nash...

When they got him I really thought they finally had that power forward they have needed for years. Disappointed at this point isn't a strong enough word. He can certainly score some big goals here moving forward to redeem himself but at this point it's like I said before. 20 career playoff games and 2 goals. For a player of his caliber that's kind of unheard of.

What rangers need are electrodes to be attached to nash's uniform and on his balls if he has any and ulfie needs to push the electric shock button on him every time he coasts which is much of the game. Nash should have to watch his disgrace of a game with the coaches and explain what the fuck his problem is. And another thing nash is a monster that should be out there flattening flyers all over the ice if he's not going to score. Unbelievable our 2 biggest players nash and boyle are complete pussies. Biggest problem tonight was not getting good shots on goal the bullshit shots from impossible angles on the wings and corners shouldn't even count as shots. Someone needs to take simmonds, hartnell, and schenns head off every chance they get sunday. Would be nice to see #20 skate out onto the ice with his teammates sunday. Very frustrating loss. We'll win sunday but probably have to go 7 now which we didn't need to do.

I was reading an article last week, and wingers with huge deals almost never payoff. Centers are the ones who should get those big deals. Winger big deals usually hurt teams.

Nash is simple to me. Said it the other game. Guy is soft and too nice. ZERO killer instinct.

Final sum up. I am with Mess regarding being concerned about Sunday. They have a ton of confidence, they are 1-0 with Mason, we have a ton of pressure on us (what they had an overcame tonight). So I am concerned it could be too much, but I am hopeful we get the win and then put ourselves in a great spot to win the series.

Win Sunday and we are fine.
 
I'm not concerned until we have to play an elimination game. Simple as that

What is funny we all talk about buying Richards out, and we really have to this summer, but at 7.8 mill per as a winger it isn't insane to say buy Nash out or more likely try and deal him his summer if we do end up getting beat by the Flyers and he ends with 2 playoff goals in 22 playoff games...
 
In general I am with you Dis...maybe concerned is too strong a word. I guess the best way to put it is I am not as confident that we win game 5 as I hoped I would be. And I am not as confident we win game 5 as I was it would be 1-1 and then 2-2.
 
This Mason thing I guess is my biggest sticking point. I really think he gives the Flyers a boost of cofidence. That is by far what is mainly causing me to be less confident about Sunday. They are 1-0 with him as the starter.
 
Actually Boyle is leading the team in hits in the playoffs. Ive seen enough of Nash in the last two years so I was saying all season that he was soft. I dont know why you guys are so surprised. I was not expecting much from him.

P.S. Toews wins it for the hawks in OT second game in a row. Thats the guy you go to war with, not Rick freaking Nash.
 
All do respect Chuck you are giving Mason too much credit. He had a couple nice saves tonight but the Rangers play helped Philly and Mason a lot. I just think the Rangers play their best game on Sunday

I thought our biggest issues tonight were simply ZERO pressure in front of Mason AND just about ZERO forecheck.

Those were my biggest issues I saw.
 
I hear you for sure Dis. And I said throughout the game give Mason credit for some nice saves, BUT we made it SO easy on him tonight.

BUT with that said Dis two things:

1. He is better than Emery. Period end of story.
2. I am talking Flyer confidence level Dis. Their confidence level with him in goal is VERY high, especially after tonight. They are undefeated with him in net, their # 1. The guy won over 30 games for them this season. So their confidence will be high for Sunday.

With that said I think we win Sunday. From day 1 that is how I saw this series going. 1-1, 2-2, then home ice plays out and we win in 7. So I stick with that for sure.
 
One thing I gotta say is Mason got away with a lot of shit in this game, whacking and punching guys. He deserved at least one penalty.
 
Masons not a bad goalie but let's not go crazy here. We need to win 2 out if 3 w 2 gms at home w Hank vs Mason. No excuses get it done. Starts Sun

Our usual MO is we come out on fire Sunday, so let's hope that is the case. Would have loved for it to be a night game, or at least a 3 PM game, but so be it.

We should be ready and fired up to come out hard. If we aren't then we don't deserve it quite frankly.

I am still confident overall we make the ECF. I actually think this series will be tougher than round 2 if we get by Philly. I think either of these two teams make the ECF. So this series is huge I believe.

Let's get a nice ECF run this season. Then truly finish off a cup contending team this summer with another dman with size, and another scorer with size. Then away we go.
 
Amen on that Dis...ZERO excuses. If we don't win this series it is a choke job IMO.

1-0 and 2-1 leads.
Lose game 2 to Emery.
Lose either a game 5 or game 7 in our building.
Hank beaten by Mason.
And for my money we have the better team AND home ice.

No excuses. Choke job if we lose. We agree 1000000000% Dis. But Mason is clearly better than Emery...not close.
 
If they win this series and face Pitt and Nash can't score on the Flower he should get bought out LOL

Funny...the ultimate battle. Terrible playoff goalie against a soft guy who cannot score in the playoffs.
 
Just thinking about that 4 on 3 to start the 3rd. That was SO sad. PP let this team down big time tonight. As much as it won game 1, tonight was worse the other way.

They literally stood still on the edges and passed back and forth at least 4 times before trying a stupid low % pass and then a stupid low % shot.

That was a joke.

My advise is lower your confidence a notch. Setting yourself up for a big letdown. I set the bar low for this team but I will still watch every game and root for them like an idiot.
 
Well, onto Sunday. All on the line. Home, Hank, off a flat soft game, pretty much a must win.

It is all there. Win that and all is forgiven tonight. That simple reallly. This is a game that should show why home ice is huge.

We'll see if we get the push we need, or if we falter and pretty much let Philly have the series. I expect the former.

We'll see Step. Like I said, not as confident going into game 5 as I wanted to be when the series started, or when I said 2-2 we win in 7. BUT I am still more confident we win than we lose.

And I do fully believe that the winner of this series makes the ECF, so I stand by that for sure. The next series will be a little easier, especially if it is Pitt.

yes, that was a complete disaster. It is like they just wanted to waste time and move on to the next game.
 
Love Al and his confidence and passion...he just had to learn...WE ARE THE NY RANGERS AND THIS IS HOW WE OPERATE...:).
