It is very odd, and most importantly, illogical that they decide to sit a Othmann for a guy like Sheary. Even if you don't think much of a guy like Othmann, why would you play a useless whatever 13th forward like Sheary over him on a bad team, so stupid.
It also shows yet again the Rangers have absolutely no understanding of asset value. Even if for no other reason, you play Othmann to enhance his value in a trade, especially when the alternative is a guy like Sheary, again on a bad team.
What also shows the Rangers have absolutely no understanding of asset value, playing Schneider on the 3rd pair, it's a total waste. You see it very clearly now as he's playing top pair minutes, Schneider needs to be in a top 4 role, I've said it for years. Instead, you have him behind Fox and Borgen, dumb and not valuing an asset properly.
It's why I say the Rangers either need to make room for Schneider in the top 4 or deal him now for good value. It makes ZERO sense to pay him what he'll want to play 3rd pair minutes; my guess is that's what the Rangers will do though. What they should do is find a way to trade Fox or Borgen (another bad Drury deal) OR play one of Fox/Borgen/Schneider at LD, so they are all in the top 4 with Gavrikov. Again, I am sure the Rangers will do neither of those things. The Rangers check just about every box of a terrible organization, sad but true.
