what team does full court presses in the first quarter? lol

there's a reason coaches only pull out this tactic as a last resort

I know, I'm not saying it would ever happen. It was more of a shot at how bad our team is at handling pressure.

We need to give up on the idea of going for a top 3 pick. That ain't gonna happen.

Chauncey ain't trying to lose and neither is the rest of the team.
With the new lottery system you don’t have to be horrible to give yourself a chance.

But yeah, no way it happens. And frankly I think we have too many decent players to make it happen.

Simons + CJ + Nurk (how they’re currently playing) is simply going to win too many games to be a bottom feeder.

wow looking at the standing right now, Blazers are in the play-in game

still 6 games under .500.

and 4 games behind #6 denver.

13th pick here we come!
Like I've been saying, lets see what happens between now and Feb 10. If everything stays the same then I'll be really frustrated but we may see some moves that make this team more competitive now and way more competitive when Dame gets back.

just to be clear, this road trip and the two weeks prior have been the most fun i've had watching our games this season. makes cronin's job a tougher in the offseason.

Loved the leash on CJ. He only dribbled for 10 seconds 3 or 4 times. He was efficient tonight because many of his shots were a natural part of the offense.
#LovinTeamBall

did you see Billups giving him an earful when Nurk was clamping Siakam and CJ sagged off Trent for no reason and it lead to an open three? That would’ve NEVER happened under Stotts.

Well I looked at i don't expect a lot of movement by us to trading deadline. I think the only major player move will probably be Covington and maybe a bench player. Nurk and CJ will probably not be traded that's my opinion.

Glad they won. This thread would have been 2-3 pages longer if it had been CJ instead of Ant who was 4-16 at one point in the game.

Which is similar to Dame shutting it down for the rest of the season.

The Spurs completely mailed it in that season and got Duncan for it.
Difference is back then team with worst record got #1 pick. Plus Duncan was looked at as immediate impact/generational player and SA had the first pick to Get Robinson too.
No instant star at the top if thus draft like last years.

when was this? im rewatching

Is CJ Elleby an NBA player? I think he may actually be.

A minimum one, but an NBA player nonetheless.

Olshey drafted him and he's a guard, so yeah. I've always liked his grit and size.

he’s been the biggest surprise, even more so than watford. He’s really solid defensively and his shot looks improved. Glad he’s benched the vet (Snell,) another thing Stotts would’ve never done.

That’s not true. There was a lottery back then and the Spurs had to win it. And Spurs did not have the worst record in the league that year. Boston and Vancouver were worse. Boston had two picks that year and anticipated drafting Duncan when they brought in Pitino as coach. Instead they wound up with Ron Mercer and yes, Chauncey Billups.

That’s the reason I’m pro-tanking actually. You don’t have to be the absolute worst team to have a chance. Otherwise, I wouldn’t be pro tanking because there is no way a team like a Orlando is winning 20 games. We could at least gives ourselves a shot. Maybe you missed my other post, but I said our current team is too good to legitimately tank in the old school fashion. We will win too many games. But the new lottery we can at least snag a top 3 pick. That would be huge, generational player or not.

And I’m pretty sure everyone thinks Paolo is an immediate impact player, even if he doesn’t go #1.

Yep you are correct. I didn't check myself for accuracy.

I believe the odds were overwhelmingly more in favor of horrible teams than they are now though. Like if we wanted to have a tank-fest with Orlando, Houston, OKC, Detroit we would undoubtedly lose that race. Some of those teams are glorified G league teams. But that’s why it’s interesting to me. We could be pretty bad and still give ourselves a shot. That’s all I want.

We’re closer to the 5th seed than we are to a top 3 pick, this tank talk is dumb. There’s also no generational type player worth actively trying to lose games for, which is really the only time tanking actually makes sense (on top of being shitty enough)

Im thankful we have a real coach and a team that’s seemingly coming together (now 7-4 in January). All without their best player and multiple other starters/rotational players.

How often do 5 seeds win championships? Yeah, give me a break.

I've said this for a long time. We have the talent. We very well could be one player away from completely transforming the ceiling of this team. It's already getting to be good. Imagine if we're able to add a Simmons or Siakam. We can compete with the best of them.

On top of that, we don’t need to be one of the 3 worst teams. We need to be the 7th worst team and we are currently the 9th worst.
