Do you think Lillard makes the All-Star team this season?

So in 3 straight possessions in the third, Jake scored on a beautiful post up, a mid range jumper, and a 3. Add the dunks and a nice finger roll while attacking the basket and you can see why people get excited about him. Oh and he blocked a shot and was athletic enough to come down and then jump into the stands trying to save it. He teases us with hope......... as we desperately need a SF who can do it all.

Ive mentioned it before but his game reminds me of pre injury Danny Granger. Granger had a similar build and athleticism, could score in multiple ways, did his job defensively, but wasn’t a great ball handler, and was more of a super role player than a lead guy on a good team.

What? Did Robert Christgau hijack your account or something?
Haha. Random. You just reminded me of an Ice Cube lyric:
Went to $hort Dog's house, they was watchin' Yo! MTV Raps
What's the haps on the craps
Shake 'em up, shake 'em up, shake 'em up, shake 'em
Roll 'em in a circle of ******** and watch me break 'em
With the seven, seven-eleven, seven-eleven
Seven even back do' little Joe

It is also from a song titled "Today Was a Good Day", so I think the song is quite fitting for Nurk's day. Especially this line:

Called up the homies and I'm askin' y'all
Which park, are y'all playin' basketball?
Get me on the court and I'm trouble
Last week fucked around and got a triple double
Freaking brothers every way like M.J.
I can't believe, today was a good day

Yep. I was right.

I don’t know but it’s like trading for a new player. But Stotts needs to keep trusting him and not just when he’s playing well.
Yep. It's like we just picked up the perfect wing for our system. There's something to be said for internal improvement!

For some strange reason it seemed Nico had a lot of 9-9-9 games for us...he never cared if he got that extra pt or rebound
He had one against SA where he needed three points to get it and he heaved a shot at the buzzer that went in and then he apologized to the Spurs afterwards. I think that was his last one.

I don't think we can judge him based on garbage minutes.

I don't know if you can give a 19 year old who's drafted directly from a sports academy like Bradenton a full grade in any sport, much less basketball. Maybe soccer or baseball since they've played extensively in pro games but at lower levels.

Watch Jake get traded now in some kind of cost saving move. I was upset when we traded Vonleh, I’m just hoping we don’t do the same with Jake.

I would think that Olshey would do everything he can to keep Layman with moves at the deadline. Even if it's just for a short contract for a couple of years. Young players with a higher talent ceiling are what we DON'T have much of.

He chose to not go to college and go to the NBA, not saying he needs to come out and look like Kobe or some other HoFer, just seems odd to me how bad he’s looked. Maybe he’ll figure it out, again Im not saying give up on him. Other 19 year olds have done it, other guys have made that jump from HS too.

I hope he figures it out, again I know you have to give guys some times and he hasnt played significant minutes.
Kobe actually didn't look too great his rookie year. He showed flashes but he shot all those airballs in the playoffs.

I could see it, if someone more proven is available. Don’t see a cost saving move though. Getting rid of him isn’t going to get Portland under the tax like it did Vonleh.

So did Jake Layman. What's your point? Because our second best player misses shots at the beginning of the game we shouldn't go to him anymore for the rest of the game?
I didn't say we shouldn't go to him. I was pointing out that he did get shots at the rim when it was said he did not.

No point in going over the tax if the coach ain't playing him and putting him in a position to succeed. Hopefully Stotts doesn't pull the plug on Layman after one bad game like he's prone to do.

Stotts knows what he's doing. Layman playing with desperation because he doesn't want to be yanked. He's challenging Jake.

Jake Layman has a style that Tim Duncan, Larry Bird, John Stockton and Kawhi Leonard all had or have in that they talked with their game....they just shut up and dance...they are not trash talking loud mouths ...mouth shut, eyes wide open kind of players are rare in the NBA but usually see the court really well

When you get a player that scores at 3 layers and plays average D and continue to improve there rebounding you don't trade them. This what we got in Layman and starting do it on regular basis.

He's basically what we wanted Allen Crabbe to be

Allen Crabbe is like that close friend you had that moved away to take a better job across the country. But then you realize he really wasn't as good a friend as you thought he was. That's happened to me a couple of times.
