Do you think Lillard makes the All-Star team this season?

A good portion of the "Stotts Sucks" comments were actually specific breakdowns of what people don't like about the coaching. How come no one can reasonably argue against the points being made and instead have to resort to these type of posts?
It's okay Hoops. I gave ya a "Like".

Maybe after all these years I’ve become numb to it all. I had just as much fun during our 20 win season before we drafted LA and BRoy as I did during the 54 win season with a somewhat healthy Greg.
Well that's kind of my point. The 20 win season was fine because that light at the end of the tunnel of getting a high draft pick was there. Because of that season we were in a position to get Aldridge and Roy and eventually Oden. There are nothing wrong with those seasons. Heck, I think winning the 2007 draft lottery was the most exciting moment as a fan since the 2000 WCF, maybe just behind the Dame shot against Houston.

I just don't get what the direction of the team is. They obviously aren't bad but they aren't great either. I don't think they are stuck in mediocrity but they also don't seem to care that the same things are not working for the 4th straight year. Then when things do start to go right by playing a different way we immediately resort back to playing the way we did the last 3 years. Sure it works okay in the regular season but when you get a tough stretch of games like the last two or when it gets really tough in the playoffs it doesn't work.

I'm not saying to make changes or trades just to do them, but at this point why not do some tweaking with something?

...but the constant repetitive bashing of the same player or coach, just gets a little old or lame if you will.
COMPLETELY agree!
And that's why it's high time for a new coach, so our bashing can be about something new rather than the SAME OLD SHIT we've been rehashing for the past 8 years.

Both those seasons were WAY more fun than the past couple...

Well said. Teams need to sell hope - but the Blazers are content with selling stagnation. I'm baffled by the actions of the franchise and even more so by the fans who not only accept the situation but actively defend it.

Well at least we got this game. We should and will win this game handily. I'm hoping for a real strong game from CJ, after what he just put up. GO BLAZERS!!!
I want to see Meyers act like a maniac.

What does that matter? I really couldn't care less about my like count. How about we dissect the posts instead of the peripheral stuff?
Hoops i really like your posts. They are very well thought out and as far as i am concerned you are as well educated as any on here that i know of on contractual issues.
I must apologize to you for some of the interaction we have had. It's never been my intention to discredit you way you feel or your opinions.

I just don't have or want to spend the type of time i used to use tearing down every little nuance of the team. You have known my posts for many years. I used to be "All In" on my Blazers.

I'm gonna just post the way i feel and be done with it. I like the team. To include the players and coaches. If changes occur then i hope they make improvements. I'm gonna root for them and that is just the way it's gonna be. As far as Stotts is concerned he has the remainder of this year and next on his contract. I don't want a coaching change right now. If it happens this summer then so be it. If not i will root for him to win as many games as he can next year.

KJ, no apology necessary my man.

Believe it or not, I really like CJ and Stotts and the rest of the team. I just don't think we've learned or grown from the past 3 years. Since we brought back the same coach and mostly same players that got swept at the very least I expected something to drastically change. Whether that's style, philosophy on either offense or defense, or just a general mindset that this year they aren't going out like last year.

Instead they play exactly the same way. If there were sustainable tweaks to the offense then I'd be fine with struggling if that meant later in the season they could possibly be a tougher playoff team. What we're doing in losses is basically the same reason we've lost games in the past.

Throw Layman and Collins to the wolves right now and let them get experience so they are a little more battle tested by April. Nurk and Collins have barely played together this year, why not run them together in spurts to develop chemistry between them instead of Aminu and Leonard? Let Layman play like 30 minutes if he's playing like he did last night. We need that type of development from someone if we're not going to make any other changes.

I just don't get what the plan is? Are we fine with 1st round exits this year and next because we're waiting for crappy contracts to expire? Then why does the person who handed out those contracts still have a job? I realize we don't really have a true owner like Paul was but I don't like seeing this team flat out refuse to change because what they're doing is "good enough".

It's the perceived lack of direction that frustrates me, or if the direction is there, the lack of visibility of it and the balls to make it happen, whatever it is.

I'd jump on board and support a tank movement (as hard as it would be), if we decided to 'sell the farm' because we were realistic about our chances of seriously competing. I'd also jump on board if serious changes were made to the team to make it more competitive.

I think most fans just want visibility and direction.

Of course they can make changes, but the constant repetitive bashing of the same player or coach, just gets a little old or lame if you will. If you post the same point about the same person 42 times in one game thread..... just step away for a bit.

Think how old it gets to watch a player or coach do the same thing 42 times in a row that elicits such a frustrated response.... :bgrin:

Olshey don't want to admit he totally screw up 2 years ago on the signing. Olshey has no vision how to put a team together. If he did he wouldn't be top heavy on guards. Last year he pick 2 bigs and this year he picked 2 guards. Then he signed 2 guards just until the rookies are ready. Last year he picked Swanigan when he had better player in vonleh. To me my pick would have been Hart for the 26th pick. I didn't really know Kuzma so that's I went with Hart.

Great post all around but it bears mentioning that the Roy/Aldridge combo never got us out of the first round. So what was great about sucking for those guys anyway? And we didn't even get anything for them. The greatest move ever was trading Gerald Wallace for a pick.

As for the other discussion, in the early 90s, "stagnation" was how you won. The Bulls (Paxson/Jordan/Pippen/Grant/Cartwright) and the Blazers (Porter/Drexler/Kersey/Williams/Duckworth) had their same lineup for at least 4 years. It was a plus that your team had experience playing together. Yes 89/90 was our first season with Buck but the Bulls lineup was the same going back a couple seasons. Bulls didn't make trades while losing to Pistons year after year.

You have my number. Text me. I'm in 103.
Sounds kinda kinky.

I was talking about excitement levels of certain seasons, not really the results. Almost everyone thought with a healthy lineup featuring Roy, Aldridge, and Oden that we would eventually contend. It's why the 2007 lottery reveal turned out to be more exciting than what actually happened.

The teams in the 80s and 90s that were stagnant were mostly littered with excellent players. It's not like this team would be champions if it wasn't for one team standing in the way like the Warriors. We couldn't even win one game in the 1st round against the Pelicans.

Adding Buck was a big significant move. Same with adding Cliffy in the draft. They made the Finals their 1st year together, of course we'd want to keep that team together.
