• Friday’s game marks the second of three meetings between the Trail Blazers and the Pelicans during the 2018-19 season. Portland leads the season series, 1-0.

• LAST MEETING: The Trail Blazers outscored the Pelicans 30-20 in the fourth quarter of a 132-119 Portland victory at Moda Center on Nov. 1. Damian Lillard led the way for Portland with 26 points (7-16 FG, 4-7 3-PT, 8-8 FT), seven rebounds and six assists while Julius Randle came off the bench to score 29 points (9-16 FG, 11-12 FT) for the Pelicans.

• Jusuf Nurkic recorded 20 points (7-9 FG, 1-1 3-PT, 5-6 FT), nine rebounds and two assists against New Orleans on Nov. 1.

• Evan Turner recorded 14 points (5-11 FG, 4-4 FT), eight rebounds, seven assists and one steal in 27 minutes off the bench against the Pelicans on Nov. 1.

• Nikola Mirotic had 18 points (6-20 FG, 1-6 3-PT, 5-6 FT), 13 rebounds, three assists, one steal and two blocks at Portland on Nov. 1.

Nurk gets a triple-double and the Blazers are back in 4th place in the West! I know it's too early to be talking about this stuff, but it would be nice to have home court advantage in the playoffs (although that didn't prevent getting swept last year in the post-season by these Pelicans).

We already got some payback beating these guys in our first meeting of this season, but the Pelicans' punishment must be more severe.

Stotts with the Blazer and Dame at the helm has a 0.555 win percentage.

Gentry with the Pelicans and Davis running the show has a 0.459 win percentage.

That, and I’m an unabashed Blazer fan.

When I was at the games in New Orleans, all the fans around me hated Gentry and said that Rondo was the real coach. Nonetheless, I thought Gentry did a good job with the Suns in 2010. I still vote for Stotts. One playoff series doesn't change my opinion. I also remember how Stotts won two playoff series without HCA.

By the way, on the coaching comparison, can we agree that Brad Stevens is NOT better than Terry Stotts? Brad Stevens was gifted an All Star roster and is only 5th in weak East when they were expected to be a top 3 team in the NBA this season. Stevens is highly overrated. Meanwhile, Stotts is 4th in Wild West with only one player that has ever played in an All Star game.

One because of injuries, another because McHale is an even worse coach than Stotts (and because Dame hit a miracle 3).

Exactly this. Wouldn't want either one as my coach. But, Gentry proved himself to be superior to Stotts in a head-to-head matchup - no getting around that fact.
