Portland put up a wonderful effort in the last meeting between these two teams, as the Blazers persevered and won in Utah. However, the Jazz still leads the season series 2-1, so if the Blazers want to deny Utah of the tiebreaker, this is a must-win! Utah has been, slowly but surely, climbing up the standings in the West. They are only 2 and a half games behind us, so it's entirely conceivable that a tiebreaker may come into play at season's end. Thus this game's significance is quite substantial.

The last time the Blazers faced the Jazz on ESPN, it was Christmas night and Portland was humiliated like a kid getting a lump of coal. The next 3 games will actually all be on national TV, so I have to admit I a little bit concerned. Why? Because the last time we won a nationally-televised game was two months ago (near the beginning of the season). versus the Magic. In fact, Portland is 3-8 for games broadcasted on ESPN/TNT/NBATV this season. It almost seems like they wilt under pressure of the national stage or something. I don't want to see it happen again.

The Blazers gotta bring their best! RIP CITY, BABY!

Maybe add the opposition team's broadcast to the poll? :dunno:

I like listening to the national broadcast to hear what the national narrative on the Trail Blazers is, but I get annoyed by their stereotypes, and I can't watch at all if certain broadcasters like Reggie "Amino" Miller, or Marc Jackson are on.

That said, I do get bored of the same "message", and style from Calabro and Hurd (something that never happened to me with the Mikes). So I usually watch the national broadcast (unless certain broadcasters are on), until I can't stand the stereotypes any more, then I switch to the Trail Blazers broadcast.

This game is not until Wednesday night.
That means with having the game tonight off Lillard will have a full 5 days rest and the rest of the team will have a much needed 3 days off. The last game before the All-Star break is the 13th of Feb about 2 1/2 weeks out. Perfect time for a mini break and final push going into the break. Utah, San Antonio, OKC on the second of a B2B and then Golden State all waiting in the next couple weeks.

Good call. I've added the opposition's broadcast as an option.

Wheels is my favorite broadcaster....Michael Holton has done a better job than I thought in Tone's slot for the home games you can tell Wheels and Holton actually like each other...good chemistry I hear Calabro and Hurd on most video replays and I like Hurd a lot...Calabro is ok...I liked Barrett better than Calabro but didn't care if Barrett was a homer as much as many folks....Rice was done...time to play tennis in Florida...wish those two would have taken over talkin' ball

We really need to crush these bums, especially Joe Ingles. Fuck that guy.
I’m sure he’d absolutely love that you feel that way about him. Just to be clear, you’re hating on an old, slow, balding, white guy. So much so, that your hate for him distracts you from Utah’s biggest threats? Victory JIngles!

For all of you who don’t like JIngles, read this, then see how you feel.

“Let’s be real," Ingles laughed. "I’ve got a receding hairline, I’m slow and I’m probably not the most jacked up with abs and all that, but I’m still going to beat you one-on-one. Settle down.”

Depends on the opposition for me. If its the Knicks or nets for example, I always turn them on. My criticism of the Blazer broadcasts are still there. But ESPN is annoying at times and the tnt guys also are usually clueless.

Go on a European soccer board that has an new American on it's roster if you want to get PO'ed. I'm not saying we are going to produce a Maradona any time soon, but damn-- it would be nice to have somebody they can't cut down.

Oh how I do not know that feel

The US has to win a world cup. Until they do they will never get any respect at all. And as it looks? It will never happen.

US soccer is like Chinese basketball...lots of fans and enthusiasm but that's about it on the world stage...we are getting better but won't be on the world's league until I start seeing kids kicking soccer balls around down the street....as of now they're carrying skateboards and basketballs from what I see

Totally agree.

But i hear they are getting a great X-Box or Play station league going.....
Trying to find a street with kids playing at all is almost impossible.

We beat them last week, but I still loathe Utah. My buddy from Ogden that sits next to me at work will be at the game, so this is the biggest must win of the season. We really need to crush these bums, especially Joe Ingles. Fuck that guy.
I've never really loathed the Jazz...I enjoyed the rivalry back in the day...if the Blazers couldn't face Jordan in the finals I always rooted for the Jazz to beat them. I think Jerry Sloan is one of the greatest coaches to ever hold a clipboard. Mad respect for that guy

Jazz are a deep, well coached team that plays two way basketball...we have to be sharp playing against them everytime....last Jazz player I couldn't stand isn't even in the league now...Deron Williams....and Joe Engles is just Australia's smaller version of Chris Kaman....a guy who might not look buff but can kick your butt

If the stories are to be believed, Deron Williams ushered out Sloan in Utah. Kind of sad, DWill wasnt that good...

just this year he apologized to him...Jerry came back and I believe is still affiliated with the Jazz front office...my sisters best friend has worked for the Jazz as a secretary to the president her entire professional life...she gushes about how great it is to work there...never got a bad vibe from that organization

Stories? It was pretty well documented. Also, Williams was an amazing player pretty much right up until that fiasco. It's a shame he burned down the Jazz/Sloan because he was the perfect PG for Sloan.

I was never a big Dwill fan, but I agree he was great for Sloans system.
