Can people accept that Crabbe just isn't as good as we were led to believe he might be? dude settled with money. You know how many looks I see this dude get? passes everything up, needs to be set up all the time. Not aggressive. Not consistent at all. Great 3 percentage but who cares? defense is overrated.

Last night's starting line-up should be the starting line-up for as long as this roster exists. But Noah needs to play in the 2nd & 4th quarters too, rather than just the first 6 minutes of the 1st and 3rd.

Vonleh let both teams in rebounding.....in 15 minutes.
That is insane! That is 21.6 rebounds/per 36. Portland often gets out-rebounded but it is certainly no fault of Noah's.

I mean at this point both he and Tunchi are basically more right than kingspeed who still thinks this team can do anything this year.

underrated post^

the amount of bs that Tunchi caught for calling out our weaknesses and the train wreck of a team we're turning into at a rapid rate, was grossly unfair imo. sure he had a problem with repetition, but so do other people here on the optimism side of things.

who is more delusional really?

i felt most of the things tunchi said were accurate, but relayed in a fairly overboard way, but no more overboard than the reasoning from the 'we're the best ever' guys - difference is, we ARE actually a train wreck and there are no visibile signs of hope on the horizon that i can see.

it's soul destroying tbh, but its accurate.

^^^^... Curious that in today's world, many people aren't interested in facts or accuracy. #illogical

i think we kinda knew what he was, and thought he could be more based on his progression. we overpaid like fuck for a guy that is fairly decent at hitting uncontested jumpshots. he can't create that well for others or create his own shot with any consistency and/or at all, but we still paid him. the great part is we also overpaid and signed another player for who competes 1:1 with his role and neither of them deserve to start thus far.

fuck me.

Was Vonleh in the game when they got lit up like a Christmas tree for 43 points in the fourth. Laying the defensive breakdown last night at his feet is fucking nonsense or at least pretty fucking myopic.

I agree Tunchi had good points but he kinda said shit in what seemed a rude way and like he was forcing an opinion. He was right, we were just caught up in the over achievement, in the moment

Vonleh is averaging 11.4 reb/36 this year. That's down from his rookie year when he was at 12.0 reb/36. His pts/36 has also dropped from 11.5 to 9.2. He certainly has the raw tools to be good, but the question is how long do we wait? I know, he's still young....

Well, there's no real cost to waiting some more. It's unlikely Vonleh has a lot of trade value and it's also not like Portland has better players who need his roster spot. I think Portland should just play him a lot the rest of the season and see what he has. Play him a decent amount next year, too. If he still hasn't shown anything, he can be an end-of-bench player or trade filler to match salary. He'll only have one more year before (restricted) free agency anyway, at that point, and they can let him seek his fortune.

Tunchi was not banned for trolling. He was banned for personal insults and telling people to shut up.

I think we wait until Stotts makes an actual effort to develop him. He never gets plays run for him. Even when he does the right thing and buries a smaller man under the rim off of a switch, the guards won't pass him the ball and it's tough to get an offensive rhythm when your only shots are put backs off of offensive rebounds or the occasional dunk .

Vonleh is in the starting lineup. If he gets open, he'll get the ball. He proven he can't score in the post or hit a 15-foot jumper with any consistency. What you see is what you get. He's an undersized PF that is a deep bench player in the NBA. Nothing more, nothing less.

Is he really an undersized PF when he has a standing reach of 9' (same as Anthony Davis) and a huge wing that is over 7'4" ....at 250lbs? His vertical is not hurting him either.

I googled NBA top PF and this is the list I got: (Size wise he looks pretty average-talent is another story)

  • Kevin Love. Getty Image. ...
  • Derrick Favors. Getty Image. ...
  • Serge Ibaka. Getty Image. ...
  • Paul Millsap. Getty Image. ...
  • LaMarcus Aldridge. Getty Image. ...
  • Anthony Davis. Getty Image. ...
  • Blake Griffin. Getty Image. ...
  • Draymond Green. Getty Image.

Yeah, 6'10'' and 240 lbs. is hardly undersized at power forward. It's barely even undersized at center these days. Vonleh has all the physical attributes necessary to be a good power forward. It all comes down to skillset. Right now, his skills on both ends of the court are poor and not improving to any large degree. He's at least shown signs of good defensive ability, and he can rebound--but he's shown almost no refined skill yet on the offensive end.

not talking about the actual ban, im talking about the heat he got in the forum over his opinion, which imo isnt trolling, he was on point for most of it, it just triggered a lot of people, and then it spiraled into stupidity on all sides then a ban.

he hurt himself by repetition then getting personal. but tbh there was fuel from both sides of the fence, its just the lesser popular opinion (at the time as you said) caught fire :P

he was right tho, and his opinions were much more accurate than the 'lets start the parade now' troop.

Why the f*** do you want to add more rookies with Dame and CJ in there prime... trade the picks or else you may as well trade Dame and CJ waiting on 19 year olds to develop
I'd say Dame and CJ will be in their prime for their contract lengths...so given that...money...rookie scale for the right talent and you either let Mason walk offseason or trade him now while he's healthy and has value....we don't have the kind of talent that brings needle mover back unless we trade our best players...some on real good contracts as is...

The thing is, he can be wide-open or have a huge mismatch and very often doesn't get the ball. I've watched game after game where that happens (and not just with Vonleh). The guards are usually just very busy dribbling, crossing over, dribbling, stepping back, probing, dribbling.....you get the idea.

Reminds me of that Vince Carter quote when Chris Bosh was drafted:
"I would prefer to trade him and get a veteran. We need to win right now, not in a couple of years. We need experience."
