Grade the Plumlee trade

I'll give the Plums trade a B grade for now. It has the potential to be an A+ or an F. Depends on how Nurkic plays, more so on who the pick turns out to be, if he turns out to be any good, or if we trade it and for who we trade it for...maybe Nurkic is a bust, maybe the pick is too, maybe plums becomes an All Star in Denver. We shall see.
The Blazers didn't lose Plumlee for nothing; they didn't pay him Allen Crabbe money and go into tax penalty hell; they got the kind of big, young center in return that many of us have been asking for; they got a first round draft pick; and they improved both their cap and trade flexibility now and in the future. Notwithstanding the view that Olshey brought this situation upon himself, this trade cannot ever be an 'F'. ;)

I mean, Napier and Connaughton both played in the fourth quarter of a close game. Or did I imagine that? ;)

That was just a bad trip

Layman should at least be in game shape if Aminu is out...

It's unfortunate, because it looks like Aminu has sort of found his shot recently.

Take @SlyPokerDog with you. Last time, he tried to shave himself and....well.....

That was a good barbering choice, because "insert lipstick here" would have taken up too much space.

Yeah, I don't see how this trade can be viewed as anything less than a solid A. What more did people expect to get? I'd truly like to know. I don't see how we could have gotten a better return on Plumlee.

Zoom out a little bit. I agree that given the shit-sandwich Neil was about to eat this summer, he did a fine job of getting some value back. What sucks is that he was in this situation because of the massive overpays he made to guys like Crabbe, Meyers and Turner. For instance if he had let Crabbe walk this past summer, we wouldn't have his shooting, but is his production really so irreplaceable? Couldn't Connaughton or some D-leaguer, or camp invite do nothing but shoot (maybe not quite as well) for a 1 million bucks a year instead of 18?

I'm not saying Neil didn't put himself in this position (and that's a whole 'nother conversation). But given the position, what more could you realistically expect? Even in alternate universe where we didn't extend Crabbe/Meyers, do we really want to pay Plumlee $20M/year? I like Plumlee a lot, but he wasn't cutting it with Dame/CJ.

Any way you slice it, this trade was the best we could hope for.

Remember when we thought we were better than Utah?

ugh. Fuck this season.
"WE" who???? Same fools that thought we'd finish higher than Golden State and San Antonio probably!

Aminu did hurt his knee last game so that why he not playing tonight.

With his janky mechanics his shot will never be consistent. If it ticks up for a bit I'd be inclined to think that's standard variance more than any bankable trend.
He said recently he's been doing CJ's mechanics drills for shooting and it's having good results..I was glad to hear that...he might not shoot like Shawn Marion in the future

And don't forget, in a contract year, when he was trying to work on his offense and his short jumper, neither really worked. I like the guy but glad we didn't pay him big bucks and I think what you saw is what you would get, at best.

uggg our 23 win season was more fun to watch. I hate the way we play...I hate the bland announcers...please give me Mike and Mike back..I rate the trade an A for the draft pick alone.

I have to watch..its like a train wreck, just cant take my eyes off of it. Have to think we blow this shit pile up and start again...keep CJ...Lillard is trade bait in my book
