Nurk....some guys seem to have a bigger impact then their stats indicate, but nurk has the opposite issue in my view.

What I love is I have been really impressed with Nik’s ability to put the ball on the floor, attack the rim AND make smart plays. I knew he could shoot at an NBA level, I didnt know his offensive arsenal was as good as it is.

Niks one on one defense is ok, his team defense is just terrible. He gets beat way to much when his man doesnt have the ball. Nik gets caught watching bigs try to rebound amd dont know where there guy is. Interesting enough CJ has a lot of those same issues on defense.

Yup definitely a hater thats why I keep saying they should start Zach over Aminu, or even over Nurkic. I think Zach has looked pretty good this year and that means good things for the Blazers. Im just not all on him on yet, and honestly with few exceptions Im like that with most young guys. I usually want to see a couple years. Im not even sold on Ben Simmons. Only two young sophomore players Im sold on at this point is Tatum and Mitchell.

I don't think Stotts will break up the 2nd unit there playing to good right now. Now the 1st unit again start out real slow that needs to change. The difference between the 2nd and 1st is the 2nd unit plays better has unit everyone in involved on both sides of ball. 1st unit don't and the ones not involved it effects there games on both sides. This happen last year when Harkless got piss and said something. Nurk didn't get going until he hit the 3 then he got 2 or 3 rebounds in a row. It can't be just Dame and CJ show on the 1st unit. I think Dame tries get players involved at the first part of the game but sometimes he as also goes away from it to get his rhythm and that he should. Now CJ is different type of player he more straight scorer mentality even though he might not be on some nights. He not type player going to get others players involved very much and yes he does picks up assist here and there.

I dont remember seeing it and I agree more good than bad especially so far this year. I dont really feel like Ive said anything bad about him but how other people perceive what I say who knows. Its not even that I think people shouldnt get excited, Im just saying it cracks me up how excited a lot of fans are over Zach at this point. I mean were fans we get excited and pissed off on a nightly basis, but for whatever reason the Zach stuff is just very entertaining to me.

That shit drives me crazy both when watching and playing. If the offensive player initiates the contact that isn't a foul.

Yes and I can see through the stats he's putting up at the moment and actually watch him on the court. He's too short, too slow, can't jump, and isn't skilled enough to compensate.

I know Nurk's stats have been ok, but this was what I was saying a couple days ago, he just sags off and lets guys get good easy jumpers over and over and over, now I know part of that is Stotts defensive scheme but he also just isn't mobile enough to be out on the perimeter. It's clearly becoming an issue in my opinion at least.

I wonder if the Blazers will ever change how they play defense. Playing from behind the ball handler every play isn't good defense...

Your 2nd post that I quoted is basically the answer to why Nurk isn't playing well on defense. Without Harkless playing with the starters there is no one to guard the opposing team's best offensive player on the perimeter, thus Dame and CJ's poor defense is back to being a problem.

In Stotts' defense Nurk is supposed to let the guard take those mid range shots. The whole defense is designed make the opposing team take those kind of shots. This is on Stotts. Dame and CJ aren't helping by getting picked way too easy either. It looked like at one point in the first couple games of the season they had solved this by rotating the defense instead of leaving Nurk on an island having to decide which one of the two players to guard but they've completely abandoned that for some reason.

One side note: I don't understand why a few on here act like we have to choose either Nurk or Zach. We have both and we need both.

Also I still am not 100% on the Collins bandwagon, but he definitely deserves to starting over Aminu at this point... Maybe Even Nurkic lol...

He’s been pretty good but he’s still got to prove a few things. Can he do it once teams have him in their game plan? Can he sustain it over the course of a season. Not hating because he’s been good, just saying Im not really into calling him our 2nd best player, or acting like he’s great when he is barely on the NBA radar at this point. Could he be there 2nd best player at some point? sure, but Teams are not game planning him yet and he’s gotta just keep doing it for a while.

I think my favorite part of the Blazer game threads at this point is how every good thing Zach does people act like he's Lebron. Cracks me up.

You can't See the difference, that's your Problem. Olshey is great at drafting and scouting, but he's flat out horrible in free agency and signing Players contracts, probably the worst GM in the NBA in that category
