Dame seems to me, to be playing with a lot less intensity than previous seasons. I don't know the reason. Maybe trying to get his teammates going more, maybe easing himself into the season to save energy for later, maybe his new found Veganism, maybe something to do with this:

I bet he is in energy retention mode, he has picked his spots to burst all season long. I mean the NBA season is a marathon not a sprint.

I agree. It also has the added benefit of involving his teammates more, giving them more responsibility.

I think Dame has had issues in the past with trying to do too much, and not trusting his teammates. So his picking, and choosing when to go, and when to flow could have multiple benefits.
