Outside of the Blazers, do you have a favorite NBA team(s) to watch?

Maurice Harkless is the first Trail Blazer to score 18+ points on 7 FGA or fewer since Arron Afflalo (2/27/15 vs. OKC).

Very postive in the game how we move the ball for uncontestant shots. Nurk had another strong showing and his present by setting those picks made are guards with really good looks. Aminu welcome back with your shooting. Harkless another strong showing. But really have to pick up the defense especially some of the bench players. But give Nets credit they did hit shots.

Thing to watch tonight: Will the Blazers shoot at least .400 from 3-point range for the 6th straight game? They are 5 for 5 in the Nurcik era. Pre-Nurk, their longest streak of at least .400 from 3-point range this season was two games (last done on December 10 and 12). Having that big man down low, who is also a capable and willing passer, really opens things up on the perimeter.

Yes, they did. Tonight the Blazers shot .640 (16 - 25) from 3-point range. That makes 6 games in a row, every game Nurkic has played in, that the Blazers have shot at least .400 from 3-point range.

Pre-Nurk: Team 3FG% = .359, longest streak of shooting at least .400 from 3-point range = 2
Post-Nurk: Team 3FG% = .460, longest streak of shooting at least .400 from 3-point range = 6

I'm not trying to rain on the parade here, but....a 10 win team just dropped 116 points on us tonight.

Just ponder that for a minute.
I believe Brooklyn is a decent offensive team. Their games always seem to have high scores.

Nurk could have 0 points and 0 rebounds and still make an impact with how much space he creates for others either with his screens, or just his big ass body collapsing the defense.

I hope next year they can continue this trend (obviously I'm not suggesting they'll shoot 46% from 3 next year, but that it will be improved).

It's pretty amazing what an offensive threat can do for a team. Now if they could just get a decent PF...

You auditing for a job on Talkin' Ball? They do have an open position now.

Lol. As I was typing this an advert for Ropp's radio show played on the t.v.

Great game by both Aminu 23 pts @ 69.2% (83.3% 3P%), 6 reb, 1 ast, and Harkless 18 pts @ 85.7% (100% 3P%), 2 reb, 3 ast, 2 stl, 3 blk.

Is it just me or does Aminu seem to play better when he comes off the bench, and Harkless plays better when he starts; regardless of how many minutes they get?

Decent game by Leonard: 9 pts, 3 reb, 1 ast, 0 to, 1 pf, 100% FG%, 100% 3p%.

He made a nice turnaround on the low post, and threw a great one handed pass for an assist.

Leonard got beaten by Lopez a few times, but personally, I don't expect him to stop one of the best centres in the NBA.

Auditioning for his future team, perhaps?

Nurkic allows us to space the floor properly. Plumlee didn't have to be guarded unless he was in dunking range so defenses were able to extend out and focus on our perimeter players more. It feels like we're getting more open looks, or at least an extra step to get shots off before the defense can recover.

The advantage of having both Dame and CJ is that when one is not on, there is a good chance the other might be. Tonight was CJ's turn

Just got back from the game. Nice win. The team really seems to be jelling around Nurk. Everyone is sharing the ball and getting good looks. Fun basketball to watch.

I loved the dunk by Nurk in the first quarter. Bringing it strong to the hoop!

Yep, I mentioned this in one of the many Nurk threads a couple days ago. That with Plumlee, most of his assists come from the high post facing the basket, in both open court and half court situations. That's great for cutters and slashers, but no so much for 3-point shooters.

With Nurk, we get a lot more inside out, low to high, ball movement. Because Nurk is a low post threat, we start a lot more possessions with him receiving the ball in the low post. This collapses the defense and let's him kick it out to the open 3-point shooters. Those are the ultimate catch and shoot opportunities. Most shooters shoot a much higher percentage when they catch the ball facing their target with their feet set and shoulders squared. It let's them catch and shoot in rhythm.

I also mentioned in that thread, that it will be interesting to see if this trend continues (not .460 3FG%, that's unrealistic, there isn't a single team in the league that shoots above .400) over the balance of the season. I plan to keep an eye on it and post updates.
