Actually.......I remember back then my wife used to babysit a kid she had taught as a student teacher. The girl’s step father was a huge Blazer fan and had season tickets. He spent a great deal of time (he had a very flexible job) watching them in the pre season (back when most anyone could wander in and watch them practice). I still remember him looking at me wide eyed one day after watching them right before the first game and telling me that this team was special and they were going to blow people’s minds and go all the way. He was deadly serious. I thought he was utterly nuts but we know how it all turned out. The current team shows some amazing flashes on both ends when they’re in the groove, and if they can ever do it consistently for sustained periods I think they have a good of a shot as anyone......

Outside of the dubs anyway...

7.5 games clear of 9th place too. There is a lot more separation than last year.

Win in Memphis and we are somehow .500 on the road after being 10-15 going into this trip! Win 75% of your home games (We're at exactly 75% right now) and go .500 on the road, that is the recipe for 50+ wins.

Man. If we could go .500 on the road.... that would be awesome.

We may have to dust off this old slogan:

I was once a big fan of Nic - but by the time he left it was actually a relief! Can you imagine how good he would have been if he had Aminu's heart and motor?

Nic is a tough one to describe. He played 42 minutes. more than anyone else on either team. He got a few rebounds, a few assists, a few steals....and yet I barely noticed him. But I am not sure it is a lack of heart. Maybe he has accepted that he is an average offensive player and that is strength is being that "glue guy"? They play him big minutes so they must like what he brings. The problem, like most players, is that he is over paid for what he brings to the table.

Seems like yesterday when Herm destroyed the Lakers in LA.

For me, winning in Phoenix (game 6) in 1990, losing in 91, and winning in LA (after the riots) all seem like just yesterday.

Then I cry and think it was almost 30 years ago that they went to the finals last.

But isn’t that part of the problem? Nic played 42 minutes and didn’t have a single offensive rebound. I don’t think anyone will argue that Nic is any less athletic than Aminu, but how can you go 42 minutes without a single effort play?

He hangs around the perimeter, sometimes when he gets the ball he can make a play but for the most part he coasts up and down the court and makes no discernible impact on the floor.

I can say that the Hornets are a much better team when Tony Parker is on the court.

People saying this win should have been easy were a bit disrespectful of a team that has a number of quality players that are veterans of the league. Walker, Williams, Lamb, Batum, Parker, Kominsky, Kidd-Gilchrist, Biyombo.... That is not a team that does not have a roster that can play well. Sure their record is just under .500 but they have players that can play.

The Blazers did well getting a win on the road against a team that can beat any team in the league on any given Night/Morning. Cannot take a win on the road for granted. Even more so when it is the 6th game of a 7 game trip.

I'm sorry but that Charlotte team is garbage. MKG is a DNP-CD right now, same with Biyombo on most nights. Kaminsky was this close to getting bought out after Charlotte spent 4 first rounders on him.

I don't really want to defend Nic, but a steal is an effort play and he had 3 of them.

You might think they are "Garbage" but they are not "Garbage". That team has quality veterans who know how to play the game. Players that are not playing well together at this point and do not have a solid coach that has a good system in place? Yes that is true. But that team could win any given day against any team in the league on their home court.

Bottom line and the point of my original post was that was a good win on the road and it came on the 6th game of a 7 game road trip. Nothing at all easy about that win.

Go Blazers! Very Nice win.

A player being bought out does not mean they are bad. A player being bought out could also mean they were in a place where they were not being used or were the odd man out for a number of reasons. From what i watched of Kaminsky today was a fairly good player that has some good moments on the court. This guy just got 18 and 7 against the Blazers. Thinking he isn't good is a bit strange. He has been inconsistent this year but he can go for 20-10 on any given night also.

Didnt we buy a guy out that went on and won a ring with gsw when they picked him up? Varajau or something?

Honestly that means nothing to me that a player was close to being bought out.
We just picked up Kanter and he is contributing. He was released by the Knicks no less.

It usualy is a result of a financial decision or roster evening, than actual talent or lack of.
Melo being the outlier. Lol.

Don't confuse names with talent. Charlotte already has one of those people at the top...

Charlotte didn't spend 4 1st rounders on Kaminsky. They turned down that offer from Boston because they wanted Winslow.

My post says "Veterans who know how to play the game". Doesn't really sound like i am the one who is confused. Nevertheless they are talented. Just not playing well at this point. In My Humble Opinion.

Can someone who has zealous research talent see if any other team in the league has had 2 different guys come off the bench and score 20 points in a quarter?

Whoops, my original response was 20 points in a game, not a quarter! Deleted.
