Why not just give examples...? Its ok to have conversations.

My example would be the Charlotte game, he left Hood in, instead of going with his normal rotation. That was a good call.

Not that Im in love with Stotts as a coach, cause Im not. There examples of good coachhing from him though.
I hate when people say (And im not saying this is what your doing) stuff like "Props to Stotts for leaving Hood in, hes a great coach", when Hood scored 14 points in the previous 5 minutes and the alternative is subbing him out for Harkless.

At that rate, we might as well give him props for tying his tie.

Sure, but most of us have also complained about Stotts not sticking with the hot hand when he should. So if we're going to complain about one we should at least acknowledge when he does stick with the player who's hot. I think you and I feel mostly the same about Stotts overall though.

Example A: This guy below cites this reason than gets aggressive over it:
and that is total bullshit. Just the game prior to last night, he made the adjustment of going at the Hornets with Hood and they kept running plays for him and instead of pulling him when he normally does he left him in the whole 4th quarter that helped lead us to the win. Quit being such a hater rook.
Cant believe were giving a head coach props for sparingly using common sense instead of a rock solid rotation. Cant believe were giving props to a coach leaving in a guy that was on absolute fire and is probably as good as the starter at his position. I cant believe this is what its come down to.

Why?

If Stotts left his tie untied people would rightfully complain about how silly it looks. Why do we need to give him props if he ties it?

I dont understand why sporadic failure to use common sense means we have to acknowledge and give him props when he does use common sense.

Yes, we all know you think you are the expert when it comes to coaching so maybe you should do some good with it and coach a youth team. The poster wanted one example and i pulled that one rather easily. There are plenty more, but not worth the time as the Stotts detractors like you get all worked up over it.

But theres more to it then just leaving a guy in when he’s hot. He left ML in a game earlier this season when he was playing well and they lost, because ML ran out of gas at the end of that game. Bench guys who arent used to big minutes have to be monitored too. Weve seen Layman at times get gassed when he was hot too.
He could easily have taken hood out and said he looked tired, which is part of coaching to recognize when a guy is at the end of his spurt. Had he done that we’d all be upset he took Hood out, especially if they had lost.

Saying its common sense, is simplifying it more than it should be to prove a point.

I'm not too upset. After all, OKC lost at Minny and Golden State got blown out at home by the Celtics. Every team lays an egg once in a while. I would argue that our loss wasn't as bad as the two I've just mentioned.

If Rodney Hood ran out of gas itd be easy to tell through his play. If he started struggling defensively and missed a couple shots, then I dont think anyone would have much of a problem with him being taken out.

You're overexplaining it. Player B is red hot and Player A isnt a top notch replacement? Then ride Player B until the end, or until they're no longer hot. It's common sense.

Exactly as it's NBA basketball. Yes, a win would have been nice and it was there to be had, but it didn't. Move on to the next game.

Get outta your feelings.
Here's something to try....give props to the Grizz for locking down on D in the 4th......or will your feelings allow this? Memphis won because they earned it...not because we threw a game...credit Conley for doing what he's capable of doing. For the tail end of a long ass 7 game road trip...we ran out of gas at the end of that game....shit happens...

18 games left and you know where they will end? Relax. It's a long season and there is still over a month left.
I don't think they will catch Denver and I don't they will slip to 7 or 8 so I just leaves those 4 teams playing against each other. I am not panicking because it out my control if they win or loose. Plus I don't loose any over it either. Now my younger years I was a little different through I was little radical when I watch my teams play.

I have my opinion, you have yours. No issue.

I am getting tired of defamatory mischaracterizations over those opinions because other people disagree.

The key will be the 2 head to head meetings with Denver as well as tomorrows game against OKC. It will show us how much of a chance we have to move to the second seed. Houston is playing extremely well right now and will be a factor going down the stretch as well.

Not when it comes to Terry Stotts…..might want to reflect on that
I'm not characterizing him at all. I analyze his coaching decisions and provide my opinion. I'm also stating my opinion on what they do and do not deserve props for, since I get a constant barrage of "You have to give Stotts props for this", etc.

That's quite different than CW purposely, negatively mischaracterizing my disposition because he doesnt like my opinion in regards to a coaching topic.

We typically start out as strong as any team in the league in the first quarter. Then what happens? We typically lose our lead. Now this is to be expected now and then but we lose a lot of dd leads. Does opponent makes changes and then we don't?

This happens to every team in the league...refs call games differently than in the past and we're in an era of teams scoring 150pts a game....going 5-2 on the road is the stat that matters in the end..all teams can make big runs and all teams have to weather those runs.

Unfortunate way to end a great trip. I think we the team left if you had asked if everybody was cool coming home 5-2, every one of them would have taken it. 4.5 hour flight home last night. I hope the players are sleeping in.

I have never seen one post giving props to Stotts for tying his tie. Maybe you can enlighten the rest of us little guys and bring up some of those posts so we can all become as knowledgeable on ties as you. Serious question. Do you know how to tie a tie?

AFAF

It's an anology. I see where you struggled to comprehend that post though.
