It was also my daughters birthday. My son came out from LA to surprise her and they went to the game! They had a blast.

Yeah, it was on the Jumbotron. I posted that here last night, wishing her a happy birthday. Sounds like she had a good one. Awesome.

And btw, Neil tanked the end of Dame’s rookie year. 13 straight losses.

no he didn't.

Portland played their starters in several of those games. Aldridge sprained his ankle, IIRC, and it was a legitimate injury. Batum missed the last half dozen games or so with a bad wrist and I'm pretty sure he had off-season wrist surgery that summer

that was simply not a good team. Dame was a rookie; Hickson was a terrible C; and that was one of the worst benches in NBA history. Also, that 13 game stretch was brutal. 12 of 13 games were against playoff teams, and 10 were against top-4 seeds

Did you look that up? Or do you just remember crazy blazer factoids like that?

Good points. No good excuse for losing all 13 though. That bench was bad, wasn't it? Pavlovic?

I kind of remembered Batum's injury and that it was a tough schedule. I definitely remembered how bad that bench was because after Indiana matched Olshey's dumb max offer to Roy Hibbert, he pivoted to cheap-screwing together a terrible bench. I looked up the actual schedule and compared it to the final standings for that season. The worst team Portland played in that stretch had a 41-41 record

yeah, Pavlovich was one. Rookies Meyers and Will Barton; Luke Babbitt & Nolan Smith; Freeland and Claver. Ronnie Price. Best bench player was probably Eric Maynor who was added at the trade deadline
