We were awesome in the Pelicans game. Only bad thing was Dame was missing shots. But we destroyed them on glass, our defense was great, and our bench was world class. I'll take a game like that every night. Tonight, Dame made his shots. If that's what you judge us by, then you should have been thrilled tonight.
You're in Kingspeed world. They failed to get any separation most of the game from NO, who was without Davis. That's like a 20 win team, and it was our home opener. We haven't looked good since game 2.

This is the same team we were last year before Nurk. It's just about Dame and CJ putting up points 1 on 1, with poor defense.

Playoffs are totally out of the question this year unless we get a resurgence of Nurk.

The Blazers seem to be allergic to rolling to the hoop on the pick and roll, but Aminu, Hark and Nurk would all be much better suited rolling IMO than shooting jumpers. It worked at first then they stopped going to it. Teams have figured out this offense. Put a lot of ball pressure on Dame and CJ, and let them struggle trying to fight the teeth of your defense 1 on 2 or one on 3.

Yep, waaay too many jumpers:

I didn't get to see the game, what the hell happened in the second quarter, apart from everyone missing?

I wasn't going to watch the replay, but it is Halloween, so maybe I'll watch just the second quarter.

11:11 Caleb Swanigan misses two point shot
9:53 CJ McCollum misses 20-foot pullup jump shot
9:14 Pat Connaughton misses 22-foot three point jumper
8:45 Caleb Swanigan misses 20-foot jumper
8:05 Caleb Swanigan misses 26-foot three point jumper
7:32 Maurice Harkless misses free throw 1 of 2
7:32 Maurice Harkless misses free throw 2 of 2
7:28 Caleb Swanigan misses tip shot
7:21 Damian Lillard misses free throw 1 of 2
7:21 Damian Lillard makes free throw 2 of 2
6:47 Damian Lillard makes technical free throw
6:32 Al-Farouq Aminu misses 20-foot step back jumpshot
5:54 Lucas Nogueira blocks Shabazz Napier 's 23-foot step back jumpshot
5:34 Damian Lillard misses pullup jump shot
4:51 Damian Lillard makes free throw 1 of 2
4:51 Damian Lillard makes free throw 2 of 2
4:27 Damian Lillard misses 30-foot three point pullup jump shot
4:00 Pascal Siakam blocks Jusuf Nurkic 's 4-foot layup
3:27 CJ McCollum misses two point shot
2:47 Lucas Nogueira blocks CJ McCollum's two point shot
2:09 Jusuf Nurkic misses two point shot
0:49 Al-Farouq Aminu misses 25-foot three point jumper
0:07 Damian Lillard misses two point shot
0:05 Evan Turner makes 1-foot two point shot

All of this obviously is on Olshey, and although this team isn't quite at the calibre we'd hope they'd be at... give credit to Olshey on the quality of talent he's drafted and his almost preternatural ability to buy low and get pretty incredible value on trades.

All the man needs is one big time move or trade and I really think he has something.

Exactly. Bunch of Millennials up in here. This rebuilding process was never going to be a quick one.

The issue was that most of the shots were contested +20 foot long shots. It wasn't until about the 4 minute mark where they started driving to the basket.
Toronto has a great team. I like the length they have.

This is a flaw in both Dame & CJ's games. We need a REAL PG who can run the offense and distribute the ball. Unfortunately, what we need is a big tall PG who can defend.
I was really hoping Portland could have snagged Dinwiddie from the Nets in the Crabbe trade.

I mean, what are the chances that the blazers would miss THAT many shots anyway? Scott's was probably as shook as we were and probably had some faith that his team would break free from the clutches of futility.

I'm not gonna crap on Stotts because he's proven to me over the course of 5 years that he's a wise coach. A few mistakes here and there do not overtake the rest of his resume as trail blazers coach.
I don't like bashing Stotts at all either but that was a bad game for him from a coaching standpoint. When your team is on the floor melting down it's up to the coach to restore composure to the players. He left time outs on the board and lost bad. You have to demand that they play better. I don't care about clock management at the end of a game. You do what it takes to put them on the right course.

Lets hope Terry Stotts learned something last night.

On time outs by Stotts that how he always coach.

brb 7th game of the season and people already shitting on CJ and demanding a trade.

Sit down, drink some water, RELAX! they had an awful 2nd quarter, shots were blocked and missed, this isn't science.
We've seen championship teams get blown out during the regular season in the past, this is the NBA.

We were 5 seconds away from statisically having the worst quarter ever in Blazers basketball.

We only witnessed the second worst. #nevergofullsuckage
Your sister does

We played like shit on the offensive end for 1 quarter let's not overreact. If after 20 games or so we're around or below .500 and having awful streches of play like that than yeah it's another disapointing year, but I don't get why you're all acting like this game was the end of the world

The problem is, the easiest part of the schedule is early so that is where this team needs to get out to a fast start. Staring slow like the last two years won't work. 7 of their last 10 are on the road and against tough opponents. Messing around for the first 20 games will make it be too late.
